CHOOSING A LOCATION

Choose a location for the TV where:

    Air flows freely on all sides of the TV.

    The power cord is not in the way of normal traffic.

NOTE:  Do not plug in the power cord until you make all connections.

CONNECTING ANTENNAS

The supplied rod antenna provides adequate reception in most areas.

To connect this antenna insert the rod antenna into the hole on the top of
the TV.  Attach the 300-ohm twin-lead connectors to the two screw
terminals on the supplied adapter.

Then connect the adapter to the TV's VHF/UHF 75Q terminal.

Connecting an Outdoor Antenna

For the best reception, we recommend that you use an outdoor antenna. 
Before you connect the TV to an outdoor antenna, inspect the antenna and
the antenna's cable.  Severely weathered antennas and antenna cables can
reduce the signal quality.  Your local Radio Shack store sells replacement
antenna cable (300-ohm flat wire or 75-ohm coaxial cable) and a wide
variety of outdoor antennas.

The antenna connection you use depends on the type(s) of antenna(s) and
cable you have.

WARNING:  When installing an outdoor antenna, read and follow all
          instructions and cautions that accompany the antenna.

If you have a combination VHF/UHF antenna and the antenna uses 75-ohm
coaxial cable, connect the cable directly to the TV's VHF/UHF 75Q
terminal.

If you have a combination VHF/UHF antenna and the antenna uses 300-ohm
flat wire, connect the flat wire to the screw terminals on the supplied
300- to 75-ohm adapter.  Then connect the adapter to the TV's VHF/UHF 75Q
terminal.

If you have separate VHF and UHF antennas, use a VHF/UHF combiner (not
supplied) to combine the VHF and UHF antenna cables.  Then connect the
combiner's 75 ohm connector to the TV's VHF/UHF 75Q terminal.

CONNECTING CABLE TV

If you subscribe to cable TV service, connect the cable company's 75-ohm
coaxial cable directly to the TV's VHF/UHF 75Q terminal.

If you use a cable box, connect the cable company's cable to the box's
input.  Then, connect the box's output to the TV's VHF/UHF 75Q terminal.

Set the TV to the same channel as the box's output (Channel 3 or 4) and
use the box to select channels.

Note to CATV System Installer:  This reminder is provided to call the CATV
                                system installer's attention to Section
                                820-40 of the NEC which provides
                                guidelines for properly grounding and, in
                                particular, specifies that the cable
                                ground shall be connected to the grounding
                                system of the building, as close to the
                                point of cable entry as practical.

CONNECTING AN AUDIO/VIDEO SOURCE

You can use your TV to monitor an audio/video source (such as a VCR,
camcorder or laser disc player).  Connect the audio/video source's output
jacks to the A/V IN jacks on the back of the TV.

To view the audio/video source, follow the steps in "Selecting TV or Video
Using the Remote Control" and play the audio/video source according to its
instructions.

NOTE:  If you connect a mono audio/video source to the TV, connect the
       source's audio output to the TV's L (MONO) A/V IN jack.  This sends
       the mono signal to both speakers.

Connecting to Your Amplifier/Receiver

Your TV includes left and right VARIABLE AUDIO OUT jacks so you can enjoy
the TV's sound through your home stereo's speakers.  This connection lets
you enjoy the expanded sound of surround broadcasts (see "Selecting
Surround Sound").

To connect the TV to your home stereo, follow these steps:

1.  Connect the TV's R VARIABLE AUDIO OUT to your amplifier/receiver's
    right auxiliary input jack.

2.  Connect the TV's L VARIABLE AUDIO OUT to your amplifier/receiver's
    left auxiliary input jack.

3.  Set the amplifier/receiver's volume control to a medium level.

4.  As you view a program, press VOL+ or - to adjust the programs volume.
    Use the amplifier/receiver's volume control for fine adjustment.

Using the Loop Out Jacks

You can record the audio/video source connected to the TV's A/V IN jacks
by connecting a VCR to the LOOP OUT jacks.

Connect the source as described in "Connecting an Audio/Video Source." 
Then connect the TV's LOOP OUT jacks to the recording VCR's input jacks.

To view the audio/video source, follow the steps in "Selecting TV or Video
Using the Remote Control" and play the audio/video source according to its
instructions.

INSTALLING THE REMOTE CONTROL'S BATTERIES

The remote control requires two AA batteries for operation.  For the
longest battery life, use alkaline batteries (Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-
552).  To ensure consistent operation, change the batteries about once a
year.

1.  Remove the battery compartment cover by sliding it in the direction of
    the arrow.

2.  Install two AA batteries as indicated by the polarity markings (+ and
    -) inside the compartment.

CAUTION:  Batteries installed incorrectly might leak and damage the remote
          control.  Do not mix old batteries with new ones, and do not mix
          different types of batteries (for example, standard and
          alkaline).

3.  Replace the battery compartment cover.
