This section gives you some additional information about the VCR,
including a description of the unit's controls and display.
Controls:
Audio (R and L Mono) - Receives signals from another component like a VCR
and Video In Jacks or camcorder when it is connected to these jacks.
Use INPUT on the remote to select "L2" to record
from these jacks.
Channel Tracking Up - Selects next higher or lower channel in the VCR's
or Down channel memory. Adjusts tracking when a tape is
playing.
Eject - Ejects the tape when the VCR is stopped.
Fwd - Forwards the tape when the VCR is stopped. Searches
the picture forward during playback. Stats slow
motion during play-pause and increases slow-motion
speed.
Input - Selects between the line input and VCR's tuner.
Line input refers to the signal coming from the
component connected to the audio/video input jacks
on the back or front of the VCR.
Pause - Pauses action for viewing during playback. Pauses
recording to prevent recording of unwanted scenes.
Play - Plays a tape.
Power - Turns the VCR ON or OFF.
Record - Starts VCR recording. Used for express recording.
Remote Sensor - Receives signals from the remote control. Aim the
remote at this sensor.
Rev - Rewinds the tape when the VCR is stopped. Searches
the picture in reverse during playback. Starts slow
motion during play-pause and decreases slow-motion
speed.
Stop - Stops the normal functions such as record,
playback, rewind, fast-forward or pause.
TV VCR - Switches the picture signal so that it either comes
from the VCR or the TV.
Display Panel:
Cassette-in Indicator - Lights when a cassette is inserted in the VCR.
Hi-Fi Indicator - Lights during playback of hi-fi audio.
Power indicator - Lights when the VCR is turned on.
Function Indicators -
- [REC] and > Record
- [REC] and || Record pause
- > Playback, slow motion or frame advance
- || Play pause
- < Flashing Rewind or reverse search
- > Flashing Fast forward or forward search
- || Flashing Cassette ejecting
REC Indicator - Lights during recording.
Speed Indicator - Displays the recording speed.
(SP or SLP)
SAP Indicator - Lights when the station you are tuned to is
broadcasting SAP.
STEREO Indicator - Lights when the station you are tuned to is
broadcasting stereo.
Time, Time Counter, Channel Number, Line Input Indicator (L1 or L2), or
Status Indicators:
Time or Time Counter - current time or time counter appears.
Channel Number or Line - The channel number or line indicator (L1 or L2)
Input Indicator briefly appears when selected.
Status Indicators - Appears briefly when a function button is
pressed.
Timer - Lights during express recording and when VCR is
turned off and set for timer recording. Flashes
when timer recording is set and there is no
cassette in the VCR.
VCR Indicator - (Applies only if the VCR Viewing Channel is 3 or
4). Press the TV/VCR button to turn on or off.
VCR indicator on - Picture from VCR.
VCR indicator off - Picture from TV channel.
Back Panel:
3 CH. 4 Switch - selects the channel to which you will tune the
TV to see the VCR picture if you connect the VCR
using one of the basic hookups.

jacks. Use INPUT on the remote to select "L1" to
record from these jacks.
Audio (R and L) and - Sends signals from VCR to another component,
Video Out Jacks like a TV or VCR, when it is connected to these
jacks.
In From Ant. Jack - Receives a signal from an antenna or cable
system when attached.
Out To TV Jack - Passes signal to TV using the cable supplied.
