Batteries
You can power your TV using four AA batteries (not supplied). For the
best results, we recommend alkaline batteries (RadioShack Cat. No. 23-552)
CAUTIONS: Use only fresh batteries of the required size and recommended
type.
Do not mix old and new batteries, different types of batteries
(standard, alkaline, or rechargeable) or rechargeable batteries
of different capacities.
If you do not plan to use the TV for a long time (or if you
plan to power it using AC or DC power only), remove the
batteries.
1. Press down on the battery compartment cover and slide the cover in the
direction of the arrow to remove it.
2. Insert four fresh batteries into the compartment, matching the
polarity symbols (+ and -) marked inside.
CAUTION: Installing batteries incorrectly can damage the TV.
3. Replace the cover.
Note: The TV can operate for about 4 hours with alkaline batteries. When
the sound level lowers or the picture becomes unstable, replace the
batteries.
AC Power
You can power the TV from a standard AC outlet using an optional AC
adapter (such as Cat. No. 273-1664).
CAUTION: You must use an AC adapter that supplies 6 volts and delivers at
least 550 mA. Its center tip must be set to positive, and its
plug must correctly fit the TV's DC IN 6V jack. The recommended
adapter meets these specifications. Using an adapter that does
not meet these specifications could damage the TV or the adapter
1. Set the adapter's voltage switch to 6V.
2. With the TV turned off, connect the adapter's 4.0 mm outer diameter/
1.7 mm inner diameter barrel plug to the AC adapter, aligning + with
TIP.
3. Remove the connector cover and plug the AC adapter's barrel plug into
the TV's DC IN 6V jack.
4. Plug the other end of the adapter into a standard AC outlet.
CAUTIONS: Turn off the TV before disconnecting the adapter.
Do not leave the adapter plugged into the AC outlet or
connected to the TV when you are not using the TV.
Always unplug the adapter from the AC outlet first.
Internal batteries automatically disconnect when you plug an
adapter into the DC IN 6V jack.
It is normal for the adapter to become warm after an extended
period of use.
Vehicle Battery Power
You can use an optional DC adapter, such as Cat. No. 270-1562 or 273,1815,
to power the TV from your vehicle's cigarette lighter socket.
CAUTION: You must use a DC adapter that supplies 6 volts and delivers at
least 550 mA. Its center tip must be set to positive, and its
plug must correctly fit the TV's DC IN 6V jack. Using an adapter
that does not meet these specifications could damage the TV or
the adapter.
1. Set the adapter's voltage switch to 6V.
2. Connect the 4.0 mm outer diameter/1.7 mm inner diameter adaptaplug to
the DC adapter, aligning + with the TIP.
3. Remove the connector cover and plug the DC adapter's adaptaplug into
the TV's DC IN 6V jack.
4. Unplug your vehicle's cigarette lighter and plug the large end of the
DC adapter cord into the cigarette lighter socket.
Notes: Turn off the TV before connecting/disconnecting the adapter.
If the TV does not operate properly when you use DC power, be sure
the cigarette lighter socket is clean and that the adapter's plug
in pushed all the way into the socket.
Do not leave the adapter plugged into the cigarette lighter socket
or connected to the TV when you are not using the TV.
Always unplug the adapter from the cigarette lighter socket first.
Internal batteries automatically disconnect when you plug an
adapter into the DC IN 6V jack.
