Remote Control (160-0233) Operation Faxback Doc. # 48952
Before operating your TV, be sure that you have made antenna and/or cable
TV connections.
1. Plug the power cord into an AC outlet.
NOTE: The power cord has a polarized plug - one blade is wider than
the other. If you do not have polarized outlets, have such an
outlet installed before using the TV.
2. Turn on the TV by pressing the [POWER] button on the front panel or on
the remote control device.
3A. Press the channel selector buttons (/\ or \/) on the TV or on the
remote control device to scan through the channels until the desired
channel number is displayed.
NOTE: See "Memory Programming"
3B. Or, enter the two-digit channel number (02, 03, etc.) on the remote
control number pad.
NOTE: If you pause for more than a few seconds, after entering the
first number, the TV will assume you have entered a
single-digit number and will switch to that channel.
4. Adjust the Volume, PICTURE, TINT, COLOR, and BRIGHTNESS controls for
the best picture and sound.
5. Press [MUTE] to temporarily turn off the internal speakers. Press
[MUTE] again or press either of the [VOLUME] controls to turn the
speakers on again.
6. Press [FLASHBACK] to tune to the channel you were watching previously.
Press again to return to the current channel. You can thus alternate
between two channels by a single push on the button.
7. Press [SLEEP SET] to set the sleep timer. Press once for 30-minute,
twice for 60-minute and three times for 90-minute sleep time. As you
press the button the display shows the sleep timer count for 4
seconds, then reverts to the channel display. Press a fourth time to
clear the sleep timer.
To review the time remaining, press [SLEEP CALL:]. The display shows the
remaining time for 4 seconds, then reverts to the channel display.
You can reset the timer during sleep operation. Just press [SLEEP SET] as
many times as necessary. The counter time is reset and sleep operation
continues.
PROGRAMMING THE TUNER MEMORY
You can program your favorite channels into tuner memory, so that the TV
will scan only those channels when the front panel or remote control
channel up-down buttons are pressed. Other seldom used channels will be
skipped. You can still access those skipped channels by entering the
channel number directly into the remote control device.
NOTE: If you enter a single-digit number, the tuner will change channels
after a 4-second delay. To change to a single-digit channel
immediately, precede the channel number with a zero (02, 03, etc.)
1. Set the TV/CATV switch for the type of signal you plan to receive.
NOTE: There is only one tuner memory. The same channels will be
stored and deleted for cable and broadcast TV.
2. Press the [MEMORY] button so that the 'MEMORY' indicator lights.
NOTE: The 'MEMORY' indicator comes on automatically when you first
turn on the TV and stays on until you have programmed at least
one channel into the tuner memory.
3A. Enter the channel number you want to store, using the number buttons
on the remote control device. Then go to Step 4.
3B. Press the channel up or down button. The tuner will automatically
locate the first active channel in the selected direction and stop.
If you want to store this channel into the tuner memory, go to Step 4;
if not, press the up or down button again.
4. Press the [ADD] button to store the channel in memory. To preset
additional channels, repeat steps 3 and 4.
5. Press the [MEMORY ON/OFF] button so that the 'MEMORY' indicator goes
off.

indicate that the channel has been erased from memory.

and 3 above.
