Introduction
Your Realistic Model 150 Compact VHS Moviecorder camcorder combines all the
features of a video camera and a portable VCR in one, light-weight package.
Using VHS-C cassettes, you can record and play back home movies anywhere.
The low-light (7 lux) MOS imager makes special lighting unnecessary in
most situations.
And, with the supplied power-loading cassette adapter, you can play back
your home movies in any standard VHS VCR. You can even use the Model 150
as a regular VCR for playback or you can copy VHS-C tape to a regular VCR.
(Optional accessories are necessary for some procedures.)
The Model 150 has many special features (listed below) that make operation
simple, convenient, and versatile. Be sure to read this manual carefully
and completely so that you can understand and enjoy all the features.
Camera Features
2/3" MOS Imager - provides a clear, hi-resolution picture, even in low-
light conditions (down to 7 lux).
1/2" Electronic Viewfinder - lets you monitor the picture during with
Variable Focus recording and view playback of
a recording in the field.
6-to-1 Power Zoom Lens - lets you go smoothly from wide-angle to telephoto
shots at the push of a button.
Infrared Auto-Focus - constantly adjusts for optimum picture sharpness.
Manual focus is available for special situations.
Auto Iris - adjusts for almost any lighting situation (down to 7 lux).
Manual iris control is available for unusual lighting
situations or for fade-in and fade-out.
Auto White-Balance - assures natural color reproduction in indoor or
outdoor lighting conditions.
Self-Timer - gives you time to get into the picture before recording
begins.
Record/Pause Trigger - lets you conveniently stop and start the tape
during camera recording.
Built-in Microphone - provides synchronized soundtracks for your video
recordings. The external microphone jack lets you
use other specialized microphones.

Record/Playback Features
HQ Circuitry - improves picture sharpness compared with non-HQ VCRs.
Review - automatically replays the most recent few seconds of a recording.
Digital Tape Counter with Memory - lets you mark and return to locations
on the tape. The counter is visible
only through the viewfinder.
Audio/Video Output - lets you playback a tape on a regular TV set. (An
optional RF modulator is necessary for TVs that do
not have A/V inputs.)
You can also copy tapes from the Model 150.
EP & SP Recording/Playback Speeds - lets you select optimum audio/video
quality or maximum recording time (one
hour).

Other Features
Three-Way Power Supply - lets you power the Model 150 with the battery
pack, the AC adapter charger, or an optional DC
power cord.
Earphone Jack - lets you monitor sound during recording or playback using
an optional earphone or headset.

Control Locations
All the controls for the Model 150 are conveniently located and most of
them are labeled. The non-labeled controls are identified in the drawing
below.
NOTE: The lens cover (mode selector) controls the mode of the camcorder.
When it covers the lens, the VCR controls are exposed and the Model
150 is in the VCR playback mode. When it is moved to cover the VCR
controls and expose the lens, the Model 150 is in the camera record-
ing mode.
WARNING: To prevent fire or shock hazard, do not expose this unit to rain
or moisture.
CAUTION: To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not remove cover. No
user-serviceable parts inside. Refer servicing to qualified
service personnel.
The Model 150 is designed to expand your possibilities for in-home video
recording and playback. Do not use it in any way that might violate copy-
right laws.
Accessories
Supplied Accessories
Your Model 150 comes with several accessories (shown below). Be sure you
unpack all accessories before disposing of the packing material.
NOTE: Be sure to note the positions of the accessories in the carrying
case so that you can return them to their proper locations.
The carrying case stories and protects the Model 150 and its accessories.
It has locking latches for added security.
The 1-hour battery pack supplies power for recording and playback during
portable operation.
The AC adapter/charger charges the battery pack or supplies power for
operation when an AC outlet is available.
The audio/video output cable lets you connect the Model 150 to the A/V
inputs of a TV monitor or VCR.
The shoulder strap provides a convenient way to carry the Model 150.
The cassette adapter lets you play back a tape recorded on your Model 150
in your regular VHS VCR.
Optional Accessories
Your local Radio Shack store has (or can special order) the following
optional accessories for the Model 150.
The RF converter (modulator) (Consumer Mail No. T16-RF50) is necessary to
play back a tape from the Model 150 through a TV that does not have separ-
ate audio/video inputs. The unit shown is specially designed to fit in the
Model 150 carrying case.
You can use Radio Shack's standard RF modulator (Cat. No. 15-1273) for the
same purpose.
The 2-hour battery pack (CM No. T16-BP52) lets you record/play back twice
as long on a single charge.
The accessory bracket (CM No. T16-SA50) is necessary to mount a camera
light or an external microphone on the Model 150.
The DC power cord (CM No. T16-CC7A) is necessary to power the Model 150
from your vehicle battery. Use it only with a 12-volt, negative ground
electrical system.
