Video Cassette Recorder
Simplified Instruction Card
Normal TV Viewing
1. Set POWER to off or set TV/VCR switch to TV.
2. Turn on TV and select the channel you want to watch.
Viewing and Recording the Same Program
1. Press POWER on; TIMER switch must be off.
2. Turn on TV and set it to the same channel as VCR CHANNEL switch.
3. Set TV/VCR switch to VCR.
4. Set AUDIO INPUT switch to OFF.
5. Select BETA Hi-Fi or REGULAR audio recording mode.
6. Set ALC switch as desired and adjust recording levels, if necessary.

7. Select desired tape speed (Beta II or Beta III).
8. Insert cassette.
9. Select channel to be recorded.
10. Press RECORD and PLAY at the same time.
11. Press STOP when recording is complete.
Recording One Channel While Viewing Another
This requires a special set-up for cable TV. See Faxback Doc. # 41503.
Start the recording by following the instructions under "Viewing and Record-
ing the Same Program"; then proceed as shown below.
1. Set TV/VCR switch to TV.
2. Set the TV tuner to channel you want to watch.
3. To stop recording, press STOP.
Playback
The TV/VCR selector automatically switches to VCR during playback: the tape
speed is automatically selected, also.
1. Press POWER on; TIMER switch must be off.
2. Turn on the TV, receiver/amplifier, and other necessary equipment in
your audio/video system.
3. Set the TV to the same channel as the VCR channel switch.
4. Insert a pre-recorded tape.
5. Set the PLAY switch (REGULAR, BETA/AUDIO Hi-Fi) to the desired position.
NOTE: The regular mode is automatically selected when a tape with only
a regular audio track is played.
6. Press PLAY.
Audio Only Recording
1. Press POWER on; TIMER switch must be off.
2. Load a Beta cassette.
3. Set BETA Hi-Fi/AUDIO Hi-Fi/REGULAR switch to AUDIO Hi-Fi.
4. Set AUDIO INPUT switch for desired source.
5. Select the recording speed (Beta II or Beta III).
6. Activate the audio source (tape deck, amplifier/receiver, etc.).
7. Adjust the RECORD LEVEL controls. (See Faxback Doc. # 41510).
8. Press PLAY and RECORD at the same time.
9. Use STOP and PAUSE as you would with video recording.
Setting the Clock (Actual Time)
In the example below, the clock is being set to 10:30 AM.
1. Press POWER on; TIMER switch must be off.
2. Press and hold CLOCK SET while performing steps 3 and 4 below.
3. Press and hold HOUR until the desired hour is displayed (example:
AM 10:00).
4. Press and hold MIN until the desired minutes are displayed (example:
AM 10:30).
5. Release CLOCK SET.
Timer Recording (Automatic Record Start/Stop Times)
In the example below the timer is being set to record channel 2 from 9:30
AM to 11:30 AM on the day after tomorrow.
NOTE: Set the timer after the actual time has been set.
1. Set POWER to on.
2. Press and hold REC DAY; while holding REC DAY, press DAY until the
desired day is shown on the display (example: d: 3). Today is always
indicated by d: 1: tomorrow is d: 2 and so forth. One week from today
is d: 8.
3. Press and hold REC START; while holding REC START, press HOUR until the
desired start time hour (AM or PM) is displayed (example: AM 9:00).
4. Continue holding REC START; press MIN until the desired start time min-
utes are displayed (example: AM 9:30). Release REC START; the display
will return to actual time.
5. Press and hold REC STOP; while holding REC STOP, press HOUR until the
desired stop time hour (AM or PM) is displayed (example: AM 11:00).
6. Continue holding REC STOP; press MIN until the desired stop time minutes
are displayed (example: AM 11:30). Release REC STOP; the display will
return to the actual time.
7. Press the channel select button for the channel to be recorded (example:
2).
8. Insert a Beta cassette.
9. Set the recording speed (Beta II or Beta III).
10. Set the AUDIO INPUT switch.
11. Set the BETA Hi-Fi/AUDIO Hi-Fi/REGULAR switch.
12. Set TIMER switch to ON.
