Model-20 Beta Hi-Fi Video Cassette Recorder
(160-0600) Recording Faxback Doc. # 41510
Timer Recording (Automatic Unattended Recording)
Once you have set the timer (day, start/stops times, channel) and selected
the timer mode the Model 20 will turn on, record and turn off automatically
at the set times. If the tape runs out before the end time, the VCR will
switch to the stop mode immediately, but the VCR will remain on until the
end time is reached.
1. Set POWER to on.
2. Set the timer. (See "Setting the Timer" on Faxback Doc. # 41509.)
3. Insert a Beta cassette.
4. Set the recording speed (Beta II or Beta III).
5. Set the AUDIO INPUT switch.
6. Set the BETA Hi-Fi/AUDIO Hi-Fi/REGULAR switch.
7. Set TIMER switch to ON.
Timer Recording Hints
Make sure the channel you want to record is properly tuned in advance.
The erase prevention tab on the cassette must be in place (or you must
put tape over the hole).
It is not necessary to press PLAY or RECORD for timer recording.
Recording begins automatically at the set start time.
The TV does not have to be on during recording.
The VCR will switch to the stop mode if the tape runs out.
When the TIMER switch is ON, the unit cannot be operated manually.
If the DEW indicator comes on during timer recording, the unit will stop
and will not resume recording, even when the moisture has evaporated.
To stop timer recording, turn the TIMER switch off.
When the TIMER switch is ON, the auto-rewind feature will not work.
If a video cassette with erase prevention tab removed is loaded into the
VCR and the TIMER switch is set to the ON position, the cassette will
automatically be ejected.
If a video cassette is not loaded the TIMER indicator will not illuminate
even when the TIMER switch is set to the ON position. This is to indicate
that recording is not possible; it is not a malfunction of the unit.
If the TIMER switch is set to the ON position and then a video cassette
with the erase-prevention tab removed is loaded, the cassette will auto-
matically eject.
Monitoring During Timer Recording
1. Turn on your TV and set its channel selector to the same channel as the
CHANNEL switch on the back of the VCR (3 or 4).
2. Set the TV/VCR switch to VCR.
The VCR will continue recording until the pre-set end time is reached or
the tape runs out.
