(160-0600) Set Clock/Timer Faxback Doc. # 41509
Setting the Clock/Timer
The clock will operate continuously as long as the VCR power cord is
plugged into a standard AC outlet. However, the POWER switch must be on
when setting the clock/timer.
In the example below the clock is being set to 10:30 AM.
The display will be used as the clock and as a digital counter. It must
be in the clock mode when setting the clock or timer. To change the display
mode, press the CLOCK/COUNTER button.
The clock uses the 12-hour, AM/PM system. Be sure to observe the AM/PM
indicator when setting the times.
Setting the Clock (Time of Day)
1. Connect the power cord to a standard AC outlet; the display will flash
88:88.
NOTE: If there is a power failure, or if you unplug the power cord,
the display will flash 88:88 when power is restored, until you
reset the clock.
2. Press POWER on.
3. While pressing CLOCK SET, press HOUR until the hour indicator reaches
correct hour (example - AM 10:xx).
4. While pressing CLOCK SET, press MIN until the minutes indicator reaches
about five minutes before the correct time of day (example - AM 10:25).
5. While pressing the CLOCK SET, tap the MIN until the display reaches the
correct time.
The clock will then begin to operate showing the precise time of day
(example - AM 10:30).
Setting the Timer (Automatic Record Start/Stop Times)
You may set the timer to turn on, record, and turn off once during any
eight-day period (Monday through Monday, for example). Or you may set it
to turn on, record and turn off at the same time every day.
The clock uses the 12-hour, AM/PM system. Be sure to observe the AM/PM
indicator when setting the times.
1. Press and hold REC DAY; while holding REC DAY, press DAY until the
desired day is shown on the display (example d: 3). Today is always
indicated by d: 1; tomorrow is d: 2 and so forth. One week from today
is d: 8.
If you want the timer to operate at the same time every day, set the
display to d-E.
2. Press and hold REC START; while holding REC START, press HOUR until
the desired start time hour (AM or PM) is displayed (example AM 9:00).
3. Continue holding REC START; press MIN until the desired start time
minutes are displayed (example AM 9:30). Release REC START; the display
will return to actual time.
4. Press and hold REC STOP; while holding REC STOP, press HOUR until the
desired stop time hour (AM or PM) is displayed (example AM 11:00).
5. Continue holding REC STOP; press MIN until desired stop time minutes
are displayed (example AM 11:30). Release REC STOP; the display will
return to the actual time.

(example 2).
NOTE: Be sure the channel is tuned for best reception before attempt-
ing a timer recording.

REC DAY, REC START and REC STOP respectively.

today the display shows d:3. Tomorrow it will change to d:2 and
so on.
To check the start time:

NOTE: If no start time has been set, the read-out will be --:--.
To check the stop time:

NOTE: If no stop time has been set, the read-out will be --:--.
Clearing the Timer Settings
The timer is automatically cleared when the set times pass.
Changing the Clock/Timer Settings
Setting and/or changing the clock/timer settings can only be done when the
POWER switch is on and the TIMER switch is off.
You may change the settings by repeating the normal setting procedures.
Tips on Timer/Clock Setting
You cannot change the timer/clock setting during timer recording.
You might have to go through a complete 12-hour cycle to set the correct
hour (AM/PM). PM 12:00 is noon; AM 12:00 is midnight.
When the power cord is disconnected or there is a power failure, all
clock/timer settings are lost.
If the display shows abnormal readings, or no readings, unplug the power
cord and reconnect it after about one minute.
If the stop time is set to an earlier time than the start time, the
center color will flash. Reset both times.
