Portavision 5" Color TV
(160-0108) Preparation Faxback Doc. # 41217
POWERING FROM AN AC OUTLET
To power the Portavision TV from a standard household outlet, use the
supplied AC adapter. Insert the barrel plug of the adapter's power cord
into the EXT. PWR jack on the TV and plug the other end of the power cord
into a convenient AC power outlet.
CAUTIONS: Never leave the AC adapter connected to the wall outlet when
not using the adapter with the TV. The exposed barrel plug
represents a possible shock hazard.
The adapter has a polarized plug with one plug with one prong
larger than the other. Do not attempt to defeat this safety
feature.
POWERING FROM THE TV'S BATTERIES
Press the latch down and slide the battery compartment cover toward the
back of the TV set.
Insert ten D batteries. Be sure to observe the correct polarity, as
indicated in the compartment. Incorrect polarity can damage the unit.
POWERING FROM A CAR BATTERY
With a DC power cord adapter (Cat. No. 270-1534A), you can power the
Portavision TV from your vehicle's cigarette lighter socket - provided the
vehicle has a 12-volt, negative ground system.
Connect the barrel plug end of the power cord to the EXT. PWR jack on the
side of the unit. Then, plug the other end into the cigarette lighter.
CAUTION: Do not let the metal tip of the power cord touch any metal part
of the car while the adapter is plugged into the cigarette
lighter socket. Doing so might blow a fuse or damage the
adapter.
CONNECTION
ANTENNA (300-ohm Antenna Flat Lead)
When you are not using the set as a portable, you can connect the unit
to an outdoor antenna. Connect the 300-ohm flat lead from the outdoor
antenna to the screws on the antenna adapter provided. Plug the mini-plug
on the adapter into the EXT. TV ANT Jack on the side of the Portavision.
CABLE TV (or Coaxial Antenna Cable)
To connect coaxial cable from a CATV box, or a 75 ohm coaxial antenna
cable, you need a 75-ohm to mini plug adapter (Cat. No. 278-257). Connect
the coaxial cable to the adapter. Then plug the adapter into the EXT. TV
ANT jack.
MONITOR
With separate audio and video signals, you can receive audio/video signals
from VCRs or special audio/video processors. See the individual product's
instruction manual for details on connections.
Connect your audio/video equipment to the AUDIO and VIDEO INPUT jacks
on the side of the Portavision TV. Use shielded video cable with RCA-type
connectors.
