Your Realistic Model 42 front-loading, VHS Video Cassette Recorder contains
three of the most advanced features available in home video recorders.

  HQ (High Quality) Video Circuitry that improves the sharpness of the
  picture compared with non-HQ recorders.

  Hi-Fi Stereo Sound that delivers audio quality comparable to digital
  discs.

  Multi-Channel Television Sound (MTS) Decoding that allows you to receive
  and record the new stereo broadcast.  The Model 42 can also receive and
  record the special audio programs (SAP) that accompany some MTS broad-
  casts.

PLEASE READ THIS OWNER'S MANUAL CAREFULLY.  It has been prepared to assist
you with initial set-up procedures and guide you in everyday operation of
the Model 42 VCR.

       Dual Comb Filters - further increase picture sharpness during record-
                           ing and playback.

     110-Channel Digital - allows selection of any VHF or UHF channel (2-83) 
       Cable-Ready Tuner   and up to 40 different cable channels.  See "How
                           the Tuner Works" on Faxback Doc. # 41002.

                           NOTE:  The tuner will not unscramble premium
                                  cable channels.

14-Day, 4-Event, Digital - allows unattended recording of 4 different pro-
                   Timer   grams during a 14-day period.  Daily and weekly
                           recording are also possible.  See "Automatic
                           Timer Recording" on Faxback Doc. # 41005.

   Immediate and Delayed - provides easy, one-event timer recording within
   Quick Timer Recording   a 24-hour period. See "Quick Timer Recording" on
                           Faxback Doc. # 41005.

    Full-Function Remote - provides remote access to all tape motion con-
                 Control   trols.  Power on/off, channel selection, and
                           TV/VCR button controls are also included. See

  Input Selection Switch - allows manual selection of VHF/UHF, audio/video,
                           or simul-cast signals connected to the VCR. Some
                           other VCRs have automatic selection that limits
                           video system connections.
