TV AM/FM Radio
(160-0100) Power Sources Faxback Doc. # 40750
The unit can be from any one of three different power sources:
1. Standard AC (120V, 60 Hz)
2. 9 D-cell batteries
3. Car battery (12V).
Standard AC OPERATION (120V)
Use the AC power cord supplied with the unit. Connect one end of the
cord to the AC input socket (19) on the unit; plug the other end into any
standard 120V 60Hz AC outlet (hours current).
NOTE: Connecting to the AC input socket on the unit automatically
disconnects any other power supply.
CAUTION: When you are going to operate from batteries (or whenever you
disconnect AC power cord), don't leave the AC power cord plugged
into a wall outlet. Dangerous 120V AC appears on the female
connector end.
BATTERY OPERATION
The battery compartment (17) is located on the bottom of the unit. Open
the compartment by sliding the cover off in the direction of the arrows.
Insert nine D-cell batteries (not included), positioning them with
polarity as shown in the diagram. Incorrect polarity may damage the unit.
Replace compartment cover.
NOTE: To operate the unit on batteries, the AC power cord must be
disconnected from the AC input socket on the unit.
When batteries start to become weak the TV picture size will start to
shrink.
When this happens it is time to replace the batteries. For best results,
we recommend that you use only the heavy-duty type of batteries, such as
Radio Shack's 23-550 or 23-580.
With Alkaline batteries you can expect a battery life of 25 to 30 hours.
With our extra life ENERCELLs you can expect 7 to 10 hours.
By the way, never leave weak or dead batteries in the TV set (or in any
battery-operated device). They can leak damaging chemicals. Also, if you
do not intend to operate from battery power for a week or more, remove
the batteries. Never store the unit with batteries inside.
CAR BATTERY OPERATION (12V DC)
You may operate the unit from the cigarette lighter socket in any car
that has negative 12-volt ground system. Use our 270-1534A adapter.
Connect the cord between the DC 12V socket (18 ) on the unit and the
cigarette-lighter socket on your vehicle.
NOTE: To operate the unit from the vehicle's battery, the AC power
cord must be disconnected from the AC input socket on the unit.
