Using The Remote Control

Some of the remote control's buttons are duplicated on the VCR's front
panel.  You can use these buttons to perform identical procedures either at
the VCR or by remote control. The special-function buttons on the next page
appear only on the remote control.

To use the remote control, point it at the VCR and press the desired
button(s). (See Faxback Doc. # 39430.)


1.  QTR ON TIME and OFF TIME Buttons - use to set the quick timer recording.
    See "Quick Timer Recording."

2.  CH PROG, AUTO and ERASE Buttons - use to program the tuner's memory. 
    See "Programming the Tuner Memory."

3.  RESET Button - press to reset the counter to 0h 00m 00s.

4.  TAPE SPEED Button - press to select the desired recording speed.  (The
    corresponding tape indicator lights.)  See "Tape Selection."

5.  TRACKING [\/]/[/\] Buttons - let you minimize video noise during
    playback.  See "Tracking Control."

6.  TV/VCR Button - press so that VCR appears on the display to watch the
    signal you select using INPUT.  Press again so that VCR does not appear
    on the display for normal TV viewing.

7.  PROGRAM Button - use to set the clock and automatic program timers. 
    This button is explained in detail in "Setting the Clock" and
    "Automatic Timer Recording."

8.  CLEAR Button - use to erase the quick timer recording settings and
    automatic program timers.

9.  Number Buttons - allow direct selection of any channel within the
    tuner's range.  See "How the VCR's Tuner Works."  You can also use
    these buttons to set the clock or enter timer information.

10. MEMORY Button - press to select the counter memory function.  See
    "Real-Time Counter with Memory."

11. INDEX/GO Button - press to search for a specific recorded program or a
    section of that program.  See "Index Search," and "Go-To Playback."

12. SLOW Button - press SLOW during playback to start slow motion.  See
    "Special Functions."

13. AUDIO OUT Button - press to select the sound you hear during recording
    and playback.  See "Controlling VCR Inputs and Outputs."
