4.5" B/W TV with AM/FM Radio
(160-0126B) Power Sources Faxback Doc. # 38568

You can power your TV/radio using any of these power sources:

Eight D batteries.

Standard household electricity (using the supplied AC adapter)

12-volt vehicle battery (using the supplied DC adapter)

USING INTERNAL BATTERY POWER

You can power the Portavision from 8 D batteries. We recommend alkaline
batteries (such as Cat. No. 23-550) for longest battery life. You can
also use rechargeable nickel-cadmium batteries (such as Cat. No. 23-123).

Follow these steps to install batteries.

Note: If you use rechargeable nickel-cadmium batteries, you need a separate
battery charger such as Cat. No. 23-132.

1. Carefully turn the TV/radio upside down and gently push the battery
compartment cover in the direction of the arrows. Then lift off the
    cover.

2. Install eight D batteries in the battery compartment as indicated by
the polarity symbols (+ and -) marked inside the battery compartment.

Caution: Installing the batteries incorrectly can damage your TV/radio.

3. Replace the battery compartment cover.

Notes:

When the TV picture shrinks, replace the batteries.

Battery life can vary greatly, depending on how you use your TV/radio.
TV operation drains batteries faster than radio operation.

If you do not intend to use your TV/radio for a month or more, remove
the batteries. Never store your TV/radio with batteries inside. They
   can leak damaging chemicals.

This product is capable of using rechargeable nickel-cadmium batteries.
At the end of the batteries' useful life, they must be recycled or
disposed of properly. Contact your local, county, or state hazardous
waste management authorities for information on recycling or disposal
programs in your area. Some options that might be available are:
municipal curb-side collection, drop-off boxes at retailers, recycling
   collection centers, and mail-back programs.

USING STANDARD AC POWER

To use AC power, connect the supplied AC adapter to the DC 12-14V jack on
the back of TV/radio. Then plug the other end into a standard AC outlet.
When you connect the AC adapter, the batteries are automatically
disconnected.

Caution:

Use only an AC adapter that supplies 12-14 volts DC, delivers 850
milliamps, and has a center positive plug which properly fits the
TV/radio's DC 12-14V jack. Using an adapter that does not meet these
specifications could damage the TV/radio or the adapter.

Note: Always unplug the AC adapter from the AC outlet before you unplug it
       from the TV/radio.

USING YOUR VEHICLE'S BATTERY POWER

You can power the TV/radio from your vehicle's cigarette-lighter socket
using the supplied DC adapter cord.

Follow these steps to power the TV/radio from your vehicle's battery.

1. Plug the small end of the supplied DC adapter cord into the DC 12-14V
jack on the back of the TV/radio.

Cautions:

Before plugging the DC adapter cord's cigarette-lighter plug into your
vehicle's cigarette-lighter socket, make sure the knurled ring is
screwed firmly onto the plug. See "Care and Maintenance," Faxback Doc.
   # 38571 for more information about the plug.

Use only the supplied DC adapter that supplies 12 Volts DC, delivers 850
milliamps, and has a center positive plug that properly fits the TV/
radio's DC 12-14V jack. Using an adapter that does not meet these
specifications could damage the TV/radio or the adapter.

2. Unplug your vehicle's cigarette lighter, and plug the large end of the
DC adapter cord into the cigarette-lighter socket. When you connect
the DC adapter, the batteries are automatically disconnected.

Notes:

Always unplug the DC adapter from the cigarette-lighter socket before
you unplug it from the TV/radio.

To use vehicle battery power, you must unplug the AC power cord from the
   TV/radio.
