VHS Hi Fi VCR/4hd Mod 46
(160-0616) Video Cassette Handling Faxback Doc. # 38184

INSERTING A VIDEO CASSETTE

1. Position the cassette with the main label facing up and the spine
label facing out from the VCR.

2. Insert the cassette into the cassette compartment by gently pushing
on the center of the cassette's spine until the VCR completely
draws in the cassette. The tape-in indicator (<symbol>) lights
    when you insert the cassette.

CAUTION: Never insert anything except a video cassette into
              the cassette compartment.

If the power is off, the VCR automatically turns on when
              you insert a cassette.

NOTE: Occasionally, tape becomes wound too tightly around the
cassette's spools. This can cause the cassette to
automatically eject when you insert it. On most cassettes,
there is a brake-release plunger on the bottom-center of the
cassette. Use the tip of a pen or pencil to press the plunger
           and loosen the tape.

REMOVING A CASSETTE

1. Press [EJECT]. If the VCR's power is off, it temporarily turns on
    while the cassette ejects.

2. When the tape-in indicator (< symbol>) goes off, remove the cassette
    from the cassette compartment.

CAUTION: Unless you are making an automatic timer recording, eject
and store the cassette before you turn off the VCR. This
helps protect your cassette and VCR's internal mechanisms
              from dust.

STORING YOUR VIDEO CASSETTES

Place your video cassettes in their protective boxes and store them in
a cool, dry, dust-free environment. Store the cassettes on end, not
on their sides. This prevents improper setting of the tape spool.

ERASE-PROTECTION TAB

All video cassettes have an erase-protection tab to prevent accidental
erasure of a tape. If the erase-protection tab is removed, the VCR
cannot record on the tape. The cassette automatically ejects if you
try to record on the tape.

If you want to record on a video cassette that does not have the tab,
put a piece of heavy plastic tape over the erase-protection tab hole.
