Your Realistic Model 44 front-loading, VHS VCR is a new breed of VCR. It
not only contains three of the most advanced features available in home
video recorders (hi-fi stereo sound, in home video recorders (hi-fi stereo
sound, multi-channel television sound, and HQ circuitry) it has a built in
10-watt-per-channel stereo amplifier that lets you use separate speakers
for VCR playback. With this amplifier you are not forced to have your VCR
and your stereo system in the same room. Of course, you can use the
Model 44 with your stereo system if you like.
Many other Model 44 features, listed below, help assure convenience and
ease of operation. Please read this owner's manual carefully. It has
been prepared to assist you with initial setup procedures and guide you in
every day operation of the Model 44 VCR.
Hi-Fi Stereo Sound - delivers audio quality
comparable to digital discs.
HQ Circuitry - improves picture sharpness
compared to non-HQ VCR's.
Multi-Channel Television Sound - decodes the new stereo
(MTS) broadcasts for recording or
listening. The Model 44 can
also receive and record the
special audio programs (SAP)
that accompany some MTS
broadcasts.
On-Screen Programming - provides helpful menus on the
TV screen for setting the clock
and the automatic timer
programs. You can also display
the month, date, and year on the
TV screen.
122-Channel, Digital-PLL, - lets you select any VHF or UHF
Cable-Compatible Tuner channel (2-83) and up to
52 different cable channels.
Note:
The tuner does not unscramble premium cable channels.
1-year, 6-Event, Digital Timer - lets you make unattended
recordings of six different
programs during a 1-year period.
Daily and weekly recording are
also possible.
Quick Timer Recording - lets you start a recording
immediately or within the next
24 hours, and stops recording
automatically after the length
of time you select (30 minutes
to four hours).
Automatic Channel Programming - stores all the channels active
in your area into memory with a
touch of a button.
Full-Function Remote Control - provides remote access to all
tape motion controls. Control
of power, channel selection, the
TV/VCR switch, counter reset,
memory counter, QTR, slow
motion, quick motion, frame
advance, and on-screen
programming are also included on
the remote control.
Input Selection Switch - lets you manually select between
VHF/UHF or audio/video input to
the VCR. Some other VCRs have
automatic selection that limits
video system connections.

ACCESSORIES
Your Model 44 VCR is packed with the remote control and connection cable
(shown below). Be sure that all accessories are removed before disposing
of the packing material.
The 75-Ohm cable with VHF/UHF Band Splitter is used to connect the
VHF/UHF OUTPUT terminal on the VCR to the antenna terminal on your TV.
CONTROL LOCATIONS
You operate many of the VCR's functions using controls located in the
compartment along the lower edge of the front panel.
