HANDLING

Avoid shocks and drops. Do not drop or otherwise subject the camcorder
to hard shocks or strong vibrations. Bumping or striking the unit
during recording generates noise in the recorded image.

Do not direct the lens at the sun. Do not point the camcorder lens at
the sun whether recording is in progress or not. Direct sunlight can
make recording impossible, burn the CCD imager and damage the camcorder
beyond repair. Be particularly careful when recording outside.

Do not direct the viewfinder eyepiece at the sun.

Do not use the camcorder in excessive temperature and humidity. You can
use the camcorder at between 32 degrees F and 104 degrees F and between
  35% and 80% relative humidity.

Do not store the unit in an unventilated car in the summer, in direct
sunlight, or near strong heat sources. This can result in severe damage
to the camcorder's case and electronic circuit.

Avoid magnetic sources. Using the camcorder near strong fluorescent
lights, motors, televisions, or other magnetic sources can adversely
  affect recorded images.

Avoid situations where water, sand, dust or other foreign matter could
get on or get inside the camcorder. Such substances could cause
  malfunctions.

Do not use or leave the camcorder in areas with excessive smoke, steam,
dust, or moisture. Such environments can cause dew to form on the
camcorder's lenses. Be sure to provide ample ventilation.

Remove the cassette tape and turn the power off when the camcorder
  is not in use.

Do not use the camcorder on its side. The tape might not wind properly
and might jam if the unit is used on its side.

Some small, portable tripods might be difficult to connect and might
not be sturdy enough to support your camcorder. Be sure to use only
  a strong, stable tripod.

CLEANING

Many plastic parts are used in the camcorder casing. Do not use
thinners, benzene or other strong chemicals cleaners. These can
cause discoloring and damage to the case.

Clean the casing with a soft, dry cloth. If the casing is particularly
dirty, wipe the casing with a tightly wrung cloth dampened with a
mild detergent solution. Then, wipe it again with a soft, dry cloth.

Use the air blowers and lens papers designed for photographic lenses to
clean the lens and optical elements.

To protect the lens, always replace the lens cap when the camcorder is
not in use. Do not touch the surface of the lens with your hand.

HEAD CLEANING

Picture playback might become blurred or interrupted. This does not
mean that the recorded program has been erased.

Dirt accumulated on the head after long periods of use causes this
problem. In this case, head cleaning requiring highly technical care
is necessary. For head cleaning, contact your local Radio Shack store
for assistance.

Clean heads only when problems occur.

To keep Good Recording Capabilities...

If you use the camcorder in various places, eventually your camcorder
might not function properly due to accumulation of dirt on the head
drum. Pay special attention to the following points when using your
camcorder.

Dew formation on the head drum.

A worn video tape. Using a damaged or soiled video tape might also soil
the head drum, causing the blurred picture or, in worst cases, no
recording. Do not use such a video tape.

Humid or a dusty place. Use in extremely humid or dusty places can
  cause damage to the camcorder.

SERVICING

Should your camcorder become inoperable, do not try to solve the problem
yourself. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Switch the power
off and take the camcorder to your local Radio Shack store for
assistance.
