Model 127 Moviecorder
(160-0827) Video Cassette Handling Faxback Doc. # 37753
Proper handling of your video cassettes lengthens their life and the life
of your camcorder. Always treat them with care. Use only tapes with the
official VHS logo.
NOTE: Occasionally the tape is wound too tightly. This can cause
improper operation of the camcorder. You can loosen the tape
in most cassettes by pressing the brake-release plunger located
on the bottom-center of the cassette. Use the tip of a pen or
pencil to press the plunger.
Cassette Storage
Store video cassettes in their protective boxes in a cool, dry, dust-free
environment. Use video cassette racks that hold the cassettes on end, not
on their sides. This prevents improper setting of the spool of tape.
Erase-Protection Tab
Video cassettes have an erase protection feature to prevent accidental
erasure of a tape. If the erase-protection tab is missing, the camcorder
cannot record on the tape.
If you try to record on a tape with the erase-protection tab missing,
PROTECT TAB appears in the viewfinder.
If you want to record on a tape that does not have the tab, put a piece
of heavy plastic tape over the tab note.
DEW PROTECTION SYSTEM
Moisture can collect inside the camcorder under certain conditions. This
can damage the camcorder when the tape moves. To prevent this damage,
DEW appears in the viewfinder, the power indicator flashes, and the
camcorder does not operate until the moisture is gone.
If this happens, press EJECT and remove the cassette. Then, wait until
DEW disappears from the viewfinder. The time required depends on the
surrounding temperature.
CAUTION: Moisture can form very quickly when you move the camcorder from
a cold area to a warmer one - for example, when bringing the
camcorder indoors after skiing - and it might take the dew
sensor a few minutes to active. Before operating the camcorder,
always allow it to adjust to area's temperature when you;
place the camcorder in a cold room and heat the room rapidly.
move the camcorder outdoors from an air conditioned room.
Avoid using the camcorder in excessively humid areas.
