PREPARATION FOR USE

SETTING THE CLOCK

The clock must be set accurately to assure proper automatic timer and quick
timer recording. We suggest that you use a TV or radio station as your time
source.

1.  Plug the VCR power cord into a standard AC outlet.  The display flashes
    0:00.

2.  Press (POWER) so that the POWER indicator lights.

3.  If you want to use the on-screen display, turn on the TV and set it to
    the same channel as the CHANNEL switch on the back of the VCR.

    Then, press (TV/VCR) so that VCR appears on the display.

4a. Press (PROG) so that the CLOCK SETTING mode appears on the TV and/or
    SUN flashes on the VCR display.

    In the example, the clock is set to 5:40 p.m. Tuesday.

    You must use the remote control to set the clock.

4b. If you are not setting the clock for the first time after plugging in
    the VCR, the VCR does not enter the clock setting mode automatically.
    You must press (DOWN) or (UP) to select the clock setting mode on the
    TV screen and/or VCR display.  Then press (ENTER) to enter the clock
    setting mode.

5.  Press (UP) or (DOWN) until the correct day indicator lights - TUE, for
    example.

6.  Press (ENTER).  The hour digits flash.

    Press (UP) or (DOWN) until the correct hour is displayed - PM 5:00, for
    example.  The Model 43 uses a 24-hour a.m./p.m. clock.  Be sure that
    a.m. or p.m. is correctly displayed.

7.  Press (ENTER).  The minute digits flash.

    Press (UP) or (DOWN) until the correct minute is displayed-PM 5:40, for
    example.

8.  Review the entered information.  If it is correct, press (PROG).  The
    on-screen menu disappears and/or the VCR display changes to the clock
    mode.

    If the information is not correct, do not press (PROG) and return to
    step 5.  If you press (PROG) before noticing the incorrect information,
    return to step 4b.

If the display shows an abnormal reading, or no reading, unplug the power
cord for five minutes.  Then plug it back in.
