(160-0655) Recording Faxback Doc. # 31380
There are four ways to record using your VCR - immediate recording, one-
touch timer recording, automatic timer recording, and dubbing (copying).
Your VCR automatically adjusts the audio recording level.
The video cassette you use for recording must have the erase-protection
window opened. If the window is closed, the cassette automatically ejects
if you try to record on it.
IMMEDIATE RECORDING
You can record and watch the same program or record one program while you
watch another.
Recording a Program as You Watch It
1. Turn on the VCR and the TV.
2. Set the TV tuner to the same channel as the VCR's CH4/CH3 switch.
3. Press TV/VCR so VCR appears on the display.
If you use a TV monitor, set it to the video mode.
4. Insert the tape you want to record on into the VCR.
5. Press T.SPEED until the desired recording speed appears on the VCR's
display-either SP or LP.
6. Press CHANNEL \/ or /\, or use the remote control's number buttons to
select the desired channel.
Make sure LINE does not appear on the VCR's display unless you want to
record from the device connected to the AUDIO/VIDEO IN jacks. If LINE
appears, press INPUT on the remote control to turn it off.
If you want to record the SAP broadcast, set MTS to SAP-SET.
7. Press RECORD.
You can press PAUSE/STILL during recording to temporarily pause
recording to edit out unwanted material, such as commercials. To
resume recording, press PAUSE/STILL again or press RECORD.
NOTE: If you leave the VCR in the record-pause mode for more than 5
minutes, the VCR automatically stops recording.
8. Press STOP when you finish recording.
Recording One Program While You Watch Another
1. Follow Steps 1-7 in "Recording a Program as You Watch It."
2. Press TV/VCR until VCR does not appear on the VCR's display.
If you use a TV monitor, be sure to set it to the TV mode.
3. Set the TV tuner to the channel you want to watch.
4. Press STOP when you finish recording.
ONE-TOUCH RECORDING
One-touch recording (OTR) lets you record up to 4 hours without programming
the timer. The VCR automatically stops recording after the length of time
you select (30 minutes to 4 hours). You don't need to pay attention to the
VCR while it is recording.
Follow Steps 1-6 in "Recording a Program as You Watch it" to set the VCR
for recording.
2. Repeatedly press OTR until the desired recording time appears on the
TV's screen. The VCR immediately starts recording.
TIMER, REC, and the recording time appear on the VCR's display.
Each time you press OTR, the recording time length increases as shown
in this chart.
Press [OTR] Record Length
Once 0:00
Twice 0:30
3 times 1:00
4 times 1:30
5 times 2:00
6 times 3:00
7 times 4:00
8 times 0:00
3. The VCR stops after the time length you select.
The record length display counts down the remaining time until the VCR
stops recording.
OTR Hints
To ensure that you record all of the desired program, select a recording
length longer than the program material.
OTR cannot function if you have not inserted a cassette tape, if the
erase-protection window is closed, or if an automatic timer recording is
in progress.
To cancel OTR, repeatedly press OTR until RECORD LENGTH 0:00 appears
on the display, or turn off the VCR.
The VCR's power turns off at the end of OTR.
If you want to change the recording length during OTR, repeatedly
press OTR until the desired recording length appears on the VCR's
display.
During recording, press OTR once to display the remaining recording
time.
After setting one-touch recording, you can turn off the TV, if
necessary.
You can also use one-touch recording for copying (dubbing) from
another VCR or other video device. (See "Dubbing", Faxback Doc.
