The VCR's control buttons are located on the VCR's front panel and on the
remote control. You can use these buttons to perform identical procedures
either on the VCR or the remote control. Please note that some controls
are located only on the remote control.
Remote Control
NOTE: The remote control's special function buttons are shown in italics.
Remote Control Buttons that Control a Compatible TV
You can program the remote control to control basic functions of up to 30
different compatible TV brands (including RCA, GE, Sony, Magnavox, Zenith,
Fisher, Hitachi, Panasonic, Mitsubishi, Samsung, Realistic, and Memorex).
However, the remote control does not operate all TVs made by these
manufactures.
Follow these steps to find out if your TV is compatible with the remote
control.
1. Turn on your TV.
2. Point the VCR's remote control towards the front of your TV.
3. Press and hold down TV on the remote control and then press one of the
remote control's number buttons. While holding down TV, press each
number button until your TV changes channels.
When your TV changes channels, your remote control is programmed to control
your TV.
If your TV does not respond to any TV and number button combination, it is
not compatible with the remote control. If your TV is not compatible with
the remote control, you must press VCR until VCR appears on the display to
control the VCR.
NOTES: You might have to reprogram the remote control when you replace
its batteries.
After you program the VCR's remote control, it controls certain
functions of your TV depending on the type of TV. Please note the
following exceptions:
- On a TV that has a 12-position knob-type channel selector, you
can only select the first ten positions (1 through 10).
- To turn on compatible RCA or GE TVs, press TV. To turn on a
different type of compatible TV (after you program the remote
control), press TV, then press POWER.
- Not all functions may be available on your TV. For example,
PREV.CH may not work even though CHANNEL \/ or /\ do work.
