19-Inch Color TV/VCR
(160-0418) VCR Operation Faxback Doc. # 31258

LOADING A CASSETTE TAPE

Hold the cassette with the main label facing up and the spine label
facing out from the VCR. Then insert the cassette into the compartment
by gently pushing on the center of the cassette's spine until the VCR
starts to draw it in.

NOTE: To prevent accidental erasure: Break off the tab with a
       screwdriver.

To record again: Cover the hole with cellophane tape.

PLAYING A PRERECORDED CASSETTE TAPE

Follow these steps to play a prerecorded VHS video cassette tape.

1. Insert a prerecorded video cassette into the tape compartment. The
    TV/VCR automatically turns on.

2. If playback does not start, press PLAY. The tape plays back at the
speed at which it was recorded.

3. Press STOP to stop playback. The VCR returns to the normal TV
    reception mode.

NOTE: If you press PLAY within three minutes after pressing STOP, the VCR
immediately begins playback without pausing to reposition the tape
       (fast start).

Automatic Functions

When a cassette without an erase-protection tab is inserted, playback
starts automatically (auto playback), except when a program timer is
    set.

Inserting a cassette automatically switches on the power (auto power-
    on).

At the end of the tape, the tape automatically rewinds to the beginning
    (auto rewind).

The cassette ejects automatically when the tape finishes rewinding
    (auto eject).

The TV shuts itself off after the VCR automatically ejects the cassette
    (auto off).

Even if the power is off, you can still eject the cassette by pressing
    EJECT (auto power-off-eject).

TRACKING

Tracking ensures that the tape is correctly aligned with the playback head.
It only works in the playback mode and its principal purpose is to
minimize picture shake.

When playing back a tape recorded on another VCR, you might see some
picture noise if tracking needs adjustment.

Tracking adjusts automatically, and you can also adjust it manually.

Automatic Tracking Adjustment

When playback starts, the auto tracking automatically adjusts the picture.
AUTO TRACKING flashes for 3 seconds.

If auto tracking does not work, the tracking was probably last adjusted
manually. Press TRACKING AUTO on the remote control to reactivate auto
tracking.

Manual Tracking Adjustment

If you still see some picture noise or streaking, you can manually adjust
the tracking using TRACKING \/ or /\ on the remote control.
