SELECTING A CHANNEL

There are two ways to select a channel:  scanning and direct.

To scan for a channel, press CH/SET \/ or /\.  The tuner automatically
advances to the next memorized channel in the direction of the arrow.

NOTE:  If you press CH/SET /\ when the tuner is at the highest memorized
       channel or CH/SET \/ when the tuner is at the lowest memorized
       channel, the Model 25 enters the audio/video mode and displays AUX.
       Pressing either button again tunes to the highest or lowest
       memorized channel.

To directly select a channel, press the remote control's number buttons
for the desired channel.  You must precede one-digit channel numbers with
a 0 -- 02, 03, 04, and so on.  For three-digit channel numbers, press
+100.  Then enter the second and third digits in the channel number.

With direct channel selection, you can choose any channel in the tuner's
range, even if you have not programmed the channel, if there is no
broadcast present, or if the channel is scrambled (the tuner does not
unscramble the channel).

VIEWING A TV PROGRAM

Follow these steps for normal TV viewing.

1.  Press POWER to turn on the Model 25.

2.  If necessary, select the desired band (TV or CATV).

3.  Select the desired channel number.

4.  If you are using the indoor antenna, extend and rotate it to get the
    best reception.

    NOTE:  To improve UHF reception, shorten the indoor antenna.

5.  Press VOLUME \/ or /\ for the desired volume.

To adjust the contrast, brightness, color, tint, or sharpness, see
"Picture Adjustments."

DISPLAY SELECTION

The appropriate display briefly appears each time you change the TV band
or channel, select a function, or adjust the picture or volume.

You can also select a display at any time.  Press SELECT until the desired
display appears.

On the appropriate display, you can see the current tape status (such as
PLAY or STOP), the tape's playing speed, the count, the current time, and
the channel number.

MUTE

To temporarily turn off the Model 25's sound (to answer the phone, for
example), press MUTE.  MUTE and the volume level bar briefly appear on the
screen.

Press MUTE again or adjust VOLUME to restore the sound to its previous
level.

SETTING THE SLEEP TIMER

The sleep timer lets you set the Model 25 to play for a specific time
period then automatically turn off.

Press SLEEP on the remote control.  SLEEP 0 MINUTE appears on the screen.

Repeated press SLEEP until the screen shows the desired time period.  You
can set the time in 30-minute increments, up to 120 minutes.

PICTURE ADJUSTMENTS

Follow these steps to adjust the picture's contrast, brightness, color,
tint, or sharpness.

1.  Press MENU.

2.  Select 2 (TV SET UP) with the remote control's number buttons or
    CH/SET \/ or /\.

3.  Press SELECT.

4.  Select 1 (PICTURE CONT.) with the remote control's number buttons or
    CH/SET \/ or /\.

5.  Repeatedly press SELECT until the control you want to adjust appears
    on the screen.

6.  Press CH/SET \/ or /\ to change the setting.

NOTE:  If you do not press CH/SET within 5 seconds, the Model 25 exits the
       picture control mode and returns to normal screen.

7.  Press MENU to return to the normal screen.

SOFT VIEW

The Model 25 has been preprogrammed with picture control settings
appropriate for viewing video games or similar programs.  This setting
softens the contrast and is easier on the eyes.

To turn on soft view, repeat Steps 1-3 under "Picture Adjustments."  Then
select 2 (SOFT VIEW) with the remote control's number buttons or CH/SET \/
or /\.  Then press SELECT to select ON, and MENU to exit the menu.

NOTE:  If you manually change the picture controls, soft view
       automatically turns off.

RESETTING THE PICTURE ADJUSTMENTS

Repeat Steps 1-3 under "Picture Adjustment" and select 3 (TV RESET) with
the remote control's number buttons or CH/SET \/ or /\.  Then press
SELECT.  The picture control levels return to their default positions.
