DUBBING (COPYING) A TAPE

The process of recording from one audio/video device to another is called
dubbing.

You can connect the camcorder and a VCR together, then:

Use your camcorder to record the signal from the VCR

Use your VCR to record the signal from the camcorder

NOTES: Always use video quality shielded cables with phone-type connectors
(such as Cat. No. 15-1519, not supplied) to connect the camcorder's
VIDEO OUT/AUDIO OUT jacks to your VCR.

Do not use standard audio cables for this connection.

You can monitor the dubbing on the TV connected to your VCR. See
your VCR's owner's manual for more information.

If the tape reaches the end during playback, the camcorder
automatically rewinds the tape to the beginning then stops.

If you want to use your camcorder to record from the VCR, see "Dubbing to
the Camcorder" below. If you want to use your VCR to record from the
camcorder, see "Dubbing from the Camcorder." (BELOW)

Dubbing to the Camcorder

Follow these steps to connect the camcorder to a VCR and copy a tape from

Unlimited No. 11449196), not supplied) to connect your camcorder
to a VCR and record signals from the VCR.

You can also use this procedure to record broadcasts from your
cable box, satellite receiver, or other audio/video source. Simply
connect the A/V input cable's phono plugs to the output jacks on
the audio/video source (instead of the VCR) in Step 3.

1. Pull down the cover over the camcorder's A/V input jack compartment
    to open it.

CAUTION: The cover on the A/V input jack compartment is attached to
the camcorder. Do not try to remove it.

2. Connect the square plug on one end of the A/V input cable to the
    camcorder's A/V input jack.

NOTE: The plug fits into the jack only one way. Do not force it.

USING AN OPTIONAL SYNCHRO EDIT CABLE

You can control the camcorder and some brands of VCRs at the same time
using an optional synchro edit cable (CMC No. T16-CH95, Radio Shack
Unlimited No. 11449204) and remote control (CMC No. T16-RME55A, Radio
Shack Unlimited No. 11449246), available through your local Radio Shack
store.

The Synchro edit cable is an edit controller. It lets you control the
camcorder and VCR using the remote control so you can record only the
desired portions of your camcorder's tapes onto the tape in the VCR.

NOTE: The VCR you use with the synchro edit cable must have an EDIT IN
       jack.

Connecting the Cable to Your Camcorder and VCR

1. Pull down the cover over the camcorder's A/V input jack compartment to
    open it.

CAUTION: The cover on the A/V input jack compartment is attached to
the camcorder. Do not try to remove it.

2. Connect the square plug on one end of the synchro edit cable to the
    camcorder's A/V input jack.

NOTE: The plug fits into the jack only one way. Do not force it.

3. Connect the plugs on the other end of the synchro edit cable to the
VCR's VIDEO IN, left and right AUDIO IN, and EDIT IN jacks.

NOTES: Check your VCR's owner's manual for more information about
connecting the synchro edit cable to the VCR.

If your VCR is mono, you can connect either audio plug on the
synchro edit cable to the AUDIO IN jack on the VCR.

Editing a Tape

viewfinder, then the camcorder starts playback and the VCR
    automatically records the playback.

NOTES: You can advance or rewind the tape in the camcorder without
affecting synchro edit. If you press >> F.F or REW << on the
camcorder during playback, the VCR enters its record/pause
            mode.

To use the visual search function, press and hold down >> F.F
or REW << on the camcorder until you see the portion of the
tape you want to dub. When you want to continue dubbing, press
START/STOP then S.EDIT on the remote control.

8. To fast-forward or rewind the tape in the camcorder, press STOP on the
camcorder once, then press >> F.F or REW << on the camcorder. To
resume dubbing, press STOP on the camcorder once to stop the tape,
press RIGHT ARROW PLAY to start the tape again, then press START/STOP
