Replacing the Clock/Calendar's Battery

Your camcorder uses one clock battery (Cat. No. 23-161, installed) to
protect its memory. If CLOCK BATTERY appears on the viewfinder, replace
the battery.

1. Set POWER to OFF.

2. While pinching the stopper tabs, pull the battery tray out of the
    battery compartment.

3. Bend the battery tray's lock tab outward, then push the old battery up
    to remove it.

4. Place a new battery into the battery tray with the + mark facing down
    until it snaps into place.

    Do not reverse the polarity.

5. Replace the battery tray so that the small triangle marks meet.

REPLACE BATTERY WITH RADIO SHACK CAT. NO. 23-161 (CR2025) ONLY. USE OF
ANOTHER BATTERY MAY PRESENT A RISK OF FIRE OR EXPLOSION. CAUTION-BATTERY
MAY EXPLODE IF MISTREATED. DISPOSE OF USED BATTERY PROMPTLY, KEEP AWAY
FROM CHILDREN. DO NOT RECHARGE, DISASSEMBLE OR DISPOSE OF IN FIRE.

CAUTIONS: Always dispose of the old battery promptly and properly.

Never leave an old, dead, or weak battery in the camcorder.
Batteries can leak chemicals and corrode or damage electronic
           circuits.

NOTES: Keep the battery out of the reach of children since swallowing it
        may be harmful.

CLOCK BATTERY is also displayed on the viewfinder if the battery is
        installed improperly or missing.

Battery life is approximately 5 years.

Attaching Optional Filters and Lenses

NOTES: You can order filters from your local Radio Shack store.

To attach an optional filter or lens to the camcorder, remove the
lens hood by turning it counterclockwise, then attach the filter or
        lens.

Be careful not to touch the camcorder's lens.

Replace the lens hood after removing the accessory.

Cleaning the Viewfinder

1. Grasp the eyepiece just above the vision adjustment control, then turn
it counterclockwise 1/8 of a turn.

Before Requesting Service

Cleaning Care for Video Heads

Your camcorder will not normally require head cleaning; however, it is
possible that the heads may become clogged when playing an old or damaged
tape. If the image on your screen resembles the photograph on the left
while playing back a tape, the heads may require cleaning.

Cleaning the Heads: It is recommended that head cleaning be performed by
a qualified service technician. Please contact your
local Radio Shack store. An alternate solution is to
obtain a head cleaning cassette. There are many
types of cleaning cassettes, so be sure to follow the
cleaning instructions carefully. Excessive use of
the cleaning cassette could shorten head life. Use
this cassette only when a head clogging symptom
                     occurs.

Refer servicing to qualified service personnel.
