Moviecorder
(160-0804) Care and Maintenance Faxback Doc. # 18536

Be careful that no water, dust, or sand enters the camcorder because it
might cause damage.

The solid-state CCD imager is immune to direct sunlight or excessively
bright objects. However, avoid prolonged exposure to these adverse
situations because the excess heat can damage the camcorder.

When you are not using the camcorder, turn off the power, and attach the
lens cap.

Be sure not to leave the camcorder in a place where the temperature
exceeds 122 (degrees)F (50 [degrees]C), or the CCD imager will deteriorate.

Be careful not to leave the camcorder in the following places:

In direct sunlight inside a car with the windows closed

    Near heating appliances

    In direct sunshine in summer

Do not leave the viewfinder lens facing sunlight for a prolonged period,
because the phosphorescent surface of the cathode ray tube might be
damaged.

Wipe the cabinet of the camcorder with a clean, soft, dry cloth. Remove
stains with a soft cloth dampened with lukewarm water.

Never use a solvent, alcohol, or spray insecticide near the camcorder.
Such chemicals can damage and discolor the exposed surfaces.

CAMCORDER AND ACCESSORY STORAGE

Follow these steps to store the camcorder.

1. Place the cassette tape in the area marked CASSETTE TAPE. (Do not
store the tape in the camcorder.)

2. Place the camcorder in the case. (The handle should be near the case
handle and the lens should point to the right.)

3. Slide the viewfinder down as far as possible. (Do not force it.)

Rotate the eyepiece until it points toward the case handle. The viewfinder
now slides down a little further.

HEAD CLEANING

Picture playback might become blurred or interrupted. This does not mean
that the recorded program has been erased. Dirt accumulated on the head
after long periods of use causes this problem. In this case, head cleaning
requiring highly technical care is necessary. For head cleaning, contact
the local Radio Shack store for assistance.

Clean heads only when problems occur.

SERVICING

Should the camcorder become inoperable, do not try to solve the problem
yourself. there are no user-serviceable parts inside. Turn off the
power and take the camcorder to a Radio Shack authorized Video Service
Center where qualified personnel will assist you.

DEW PROTECTION SYSTEM

Moisture inside the camcorder can cause tape jams or damage to the video
heads. The dew protection system helps you avoid these problems by
preventing you from operating the camcorder when it senses excess moisture.

The red POWER indicator flashes when the dew protection system is in
effect. When the moisture level returns to normal, the indicator lights
steadily, and you can operate the camcorder again.
