Model 160 Moviecorder (160-0861) Hints and Tips Faxback Doc. # 15137

Video Cassette Handling

Proper handling of video cassettes lengthens cassette life and protects
the camcorder. Always treat them with care.

Video Tape Recording/Playback Time

Tape Size P6-30 P6-60 P6-90 P6-120 P6-150

Record Time 30 min. 60 min. 90 min. 120 min. 150 min.

Cassette Storage

Store video cassettes in their protective boxes and in a cool, dry,
dust-free environment. Use video cassette racks that hold the cassettes
on end, not on their sides. This prevents improper settling of the tape
spool.

Erase Protection

Each 8 mm video cassette has an erase-protection feature to prevent
accidental erasure of a tape. If the erase-protection window on the
cassette's spine is closed, the camcorder cannot record on the tape. If
you want to record on a tape, use the tip of a pen to open the window.

NOTE: Do not cover the holes on the bottom of the cassette. These holes
tell the camcorder the type and length of tape you are using.

CLEANING THE VIDEO HEADS

When the video heads have been used for a long time, the playback picture
can appear fuzzy. When this happens, have the video heads cleaned. If the
picture is not clear after the heads have been cleaned, the heads might be
worn. Take the camcorder to a professional technician.

We recommend that the camcorder be inspected, cleaned, lubricated, and
serviced after every 1000 hours of use. Contact the local Radio Shack
store for service information.

CLEANING THE VIEWFINDER

Remove the viewfinder attachment by pulling it and turning it to the left
so the marks on the viewfinder and attachment align. Remove any dust
accumulated inside the viewfinder. Use air blowers and lens papers to
clean the viewfinder and other optical elements.
