Selecting a Weather Station or Sensor

There are two basic questions to first consider when choosing a weather sensor.

What sensors do you need?

Where will you need/want to mount the sensors?

RadioShack currently only sells stand-alone temperature sensors and combination temperature/humidity sensors. These sensors are sold in both indoor and indoor/outdoor configurations. Some of the indoor/outdoor sensors use a wired sensor for the outdoor measurement. This will limit where the sensor can be mounted. Other of the indoor/outdoor sensors use a wireless sensor for the outdoor measurement. This increases the number of possible mounting locations; however, all wireless devices are susceptible to RFI (Radio Frequency Interference). If you have had a problem with RFI in the past, you may need to use a wired sensor instead.

RadioShack also offers a Non-contact Infrared Thermometer (Cat. No. 220-0325). This thermometer uses infrared technology to measure the temperature of a surface.
