| Question: How can I make this weather radio work with the Powerflash Module (Cat. No. 980-0232 / RSU 10037745)? |
Answer: General information on using a weather radio with a home automation interface such as the Powerflash Module (Cat. No. 980-0232 / RSU 10037745) is available in Adapting Your Weather Radio for Special Needs. The 210-0250 weather radio will work with the Powerflash under these conditions:
- The Powerflash should be set to contact mode A (Not B), and setting 2 (not 1 or 3).
- The house and unit code on the Powerflash must be set to the same house and unit code of the module they wish to control.
- When an alert occurs (including the weekly test) the Powerflash will send the flash signal until:
- the customer pushes the OFF button on the radio.
- the customer turns off the radio with the ON/Off/Volume Dial.
- the customer unplugs the Powerflash module.
- the customer removes the wires from the radio to the Powerflash.
- the alert expires (this could take quite some time in the event of watches).
- If the customer attempts to turn off the module with a controller, without first canceling the signal from the Powerflash (see steps under 3, above), the module will start flashing again.
- When the Powerflash has stopped sending the signal, the module remains in an ON state. The module will need to be turned off by the customer (using either a controller, or the All Units Off button on the Powerflash), otherwise the module will remain ON.

Note: In the user's manual, it does not state Tornado Alert. This alert is already programmed and cannot be locked out.

| Question: What are the specifications of the Alarm Output? |
Answer: When the weather radio's the alert function is turned on and it receives an NWR alert broadcast, the weather radio sends a 7.2 VDC signal to the connected module interface, and an alert sounds on both the weather radio and the connected system.
The EXT. Alarm terminals on the radio have a constant 1.2 VDC on them until an alert is received. Then, the voltage is 7.2 VDC. The 7.2 VDC remains on for the length of the alert, or until the alert is turned off.
The 7.2 VDC does not appear when conducting a self-test of the radio. This only appears when an alert is sent by the National Weather Radio service.
