12-254 7-Channel Portable SAME Weatheradio: How to Program the FIPS Codes

In this tutorial, you will be shown how to select from three FIPS modes that are preinstalled in your weatheradio. You will also be shown how to program FIPS codes into the SINGLE and MULTIPLE FIPS modes.

The three FIPS modes are as follows:

  • ALL LOC: The weatheradio receives all SAME alert signals broadcast within about a 50-mile radius.
  • SINGLE: The weatheradio receives a SAME alert signal for one FIPS code programmed in memory Location 1.
  • MULTIPLE: The weatheradio receives SAME alert signals for up to 15 FIPS codes programmed in multiple locations in the radio's memory.

To select MULTIPLE mode, go to Step 3.
To select SINGLE mode, go to Step 2.

Otherwise, either go to the tutorial on Enabling/Disabling the Alert Tones to select what weather alert types you want on your weatheradio, or go to Step 8 to exit programming mode.
