12-254 7-Channel Portable SAME Weatheradio: How to Select the Weather Channel

In this tutorial, you will be selecting the weather channel for your portable Weatheradio. The first time you use your Weatheradio, it is automatically set to use the NOAA weather broadcast frequency 162.400 MHz (Channel 1) and receive all SAME alert signals (all locations mode) broadcast within a 50-mile radius of where you installed it. Your Weatheradio is preprogrammed with seven national NOAA broadcast frequencies (Channel 1-7). Depending on your location, you might need to select a different channel.

Notes:

  • The Weatheradio will not receive a warning signal while it is in the programming mode.
  • If you do not press a key for 45 seconds, the Weatheradio stores all valid entries and exits the programming mode. Set the PROGRAM/ALERT ON/ALERT OFF switch on the left side of the Weatheradio to ALERT OFF and then back to PROGRAM, and begin again.
  • The Weatheradio sounds an error tone if you make an invalid entry.
