In this tutorial you will be manually setting the time. When you plug in the weatheradio and install the backup battery, -- --:-- -- flashes to indicate that the clock is not set up yet. The weatheradio automatically checks the WWVB time signal, and the small satellite image on the right side of the display flashes slowly. After this automatic check, it checks the time signal 6 times a day at about 2 AM, 3 AM, 4 AM, 9 AM, 3 PM and 9 PM. When it receives a good signal, it automatically sets the time. If the clock does not receive a good radio signal, you will need to set the clock manually, following the steps below.
