| Product: Amplified Antennas | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Question: What amplified antenna do you suggest for my location? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Answer: Without
actual testing, it is impossible to be certain how a particular amplified antenna will
operate in a particular environment. We can only recommend purchasing the unit which most
closely matches your needs and testing it for suitability. Please note, RadioShack makes
no warranty, express or implied, of fitness for a particular purpose with regard to the
product; however, RadioShack products have a 30-day no-questions money-back warranty in
part to ensure that your purchase is what you really need. If the product does not perform
as anticipated, it can be returned within 30 days of purchase with the packaging and
receipt to any RadioShack for a complete refund. We offer a number of indoor TV antennas. They vary in what they receive (VHF, UHF, FM), how they connect to the TV, whether they are amplified and the level of amplification. The chart below shows this information:
Amplified
antennas will bring in signals from further away; the greater the amplification, the
better the signal. A 75 Ohm connection is the single coaxial cable, such as used by the
cable company. A 300 Ohm connection has separate "u" shaped connectors to be
attached to screw terminals on the back of the television. |

| Product: Antenna Color Ratings | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Question: How do I determine the color rating of antenna that I need? What do the color ratings mean? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Answer: Color
ratings are through CEA and indicate the reception capability of the antenna. The CEA
AntennaWeb TV Antenna Selector program is available on-line at http://www.antennaweb.org/aw/welcome.asp. By
clicking on the "Choose an Antenna" link on the left side of the page and
following the prompts, you can determine which color rating of antenna he or she needs.
This is the same CEA color-rating system the stores are using. | Product: HDTV |
| Question: What is HDTV? |
Answer: HDTV
(High-definition Digital Television) is one of three standards which make up digital
television or DTV. The three standards are HDTV 1080, HDTV 720 and SDTV.
HDTV is an improvement over SDTV (Standard-definition Digital Television) in that it has a higher resolution picture and a wider aspect ratio (screen width vs. screen height). Additionally, the digital nature of this format means that if you can receive the signal, there should not be "snow" or other interference issues such as are experienced with analog signals. |

| Product: HDTV |
| Question: What do pixels have to do with HDTV? |
| Answer: Today's
broadcast signal lights up about 200,000 pixels arranged in a 4:3 rectangle.
High-definition digital television is different. At the very minimum, over-the-air digital
television offers a picture that's 640 pixels wide by 480 pixels high -- that's over
300,000 pixels (about 50% more than today's TV). Since more pixels mean more visual information, an increase in pixels means a sharper picture. In the past, a sharper picture was just ... sharper. But with digital television, there's a way to quantify just how sharp it is. From the minimum of 300,000 pixels all the way up to about a million pixels is called Standard-definition Digital Television (SDTV). High-definition Digital Television (HDTV) starts at around a million pixels and can go all the way up to 2 million -- almost ten times the resolution of today's TV. |

| Question: How do I connect my LCD television to an external A/V source? |
Answer: You will need to use a Y-adapter cable with a 1/8" stereo plug on one end and two RCA plugs on the other end, such as the 420-2550 3' Cable or the 420-2551 6' Cable. Connect the cable's red plug to the component's video output jack and its white plug to the component's audio output jack. Then, plug the cable's mini plug into the TV's AUDIO/VIDEO jack. |

| Question: The screen is yellow and displays "dealer do not remove pin for demo"..... "consumer remove pin for demo to go away" How do I fix this? | |
| Answer:
You will need to turn the TV off, unplug it and remove the pin from the back of the TV. It
is inserted in the "g-link cable slot" on the back of the unit and looks like a
nail but with a flat head. Once that is done wait a few seconds and then plug the TV back
in and turn on. If there is no pin on the back, then you will need to unplug the TV for a few minutes and then plug it back in. If you still get a demo running , go to the menu screen and go to guide setup to turn the demo off. |

| Product: F23685 RCA 32" Color Stereo Monitor | Cat. No.: 160-3401 |
| Question: Does this have Picture-in-Picture? The specification sheet refers to "Twin Tuner"; however, page 48 of the manual says that says "Your monitor is equipped with a single tuner that tunes to cable or off-air television signals. The PIP feature on your monitor requires a second video source, like a VCR or satellite receiver to supply the second picture to the screen. The PIP feature also requires connecting the second video source to the monitor with audio/video cables." This seems to imply a single tuner, and uses A/V inputs for the second source. | |
| Answer: The F32685 does have Twin Tuner PIP, which is available without hooking up an additional video source. | |

| Question: Can all versions of this unit be used with a combo antenna? | |
| Answer: Yes. The documentation for the original version (150-1115) and the "A" version (150-1115A) indicate that they can be used with a combo antenna. The "B" version manual (150-1115B) says that it is not for use with a combo antenna; this is incorrect. The 150-1115 passes VHF-FM at an unamplified level. The unit was re-imaged several years ago and the statement not to use with UHF/VHF/FM combo antennas was added at that time. This is a minor error and the proper use should have been better qualified. With many combination antennas, the UHF needs the gain and the VHF/FM would be just fine. The use in some areas of a broadband amplifier could cause tuner overload. | |
