Answer: If there is not an area code stored and you use the callback feature to call the number, then 10 digits are dialed. If you want to dial a 1 before the area code and number, then you must first press 1 on the keypad and then press callback. If the area code is stored, and an incoming call matches, then only seven digits are displayed. To call back using 8 digits - the user presses 1 and then callback with the number. What is displayed on the LCD is what is dialed out. If you stored an area code and now must make 10 digit calls for local, then you need to follow the instructions in the owners manual and overwrite the area code with something else, such as all zeros or all ones.
