Answer: The - - indicates that the answering system is turned off. If you do not want the answering system to answer any calls, you can set STOP/ON to STOP. The message indicator turns off and - - appears on the display. STOP/ON is located on the right side of the answering system by the VOLUME control.

Answer: The answer light is off because the unit is turned off. Set STOP/ON to ON so 00 appears on the display. The answering system is ready to answer calls. STOP/ON is located on the right side of the answering system by the VOLUME control.
