Answer: Follow the procedures below to set the answering machine.
To set the outgoing message:
- Press STOP if STOP indicator is not lit.
- Press RECORD ANNOUNCEMENT. The RECORD ANNOUNCEMENT indicator starts blinking.
- Wait for a long tone to sound and the RECORD ANNOUNCEMENT indicator to stop blinking.
- Then press PLAY/START within 30 seconds. If you do not, it returns to the STOP mode.
- The outgoing message tape starts, and the RECORD ANNOUNCEMENT indicator starts flashing slowly. Wait a few seconds, the speak your message. Speak clearly and in a normal tone of voice, about 8 inches from the microphone. Your message can be up to 4.5 minutes long.
- After completing your message, press STOP/REMOTE TURN ON. The end-tone is recorded on the outgoing tape.
To set the ANSWER switch:
Set the ANSWER switch on the right side panel to determine how quickly the TAD-252 answers the telephone. Select:
- IMM - answers on the first ring
- DEL - answers a call after about four rings
- TOS (toll saver) - to save time and money on remote operation from long distance number
To set the INCOMING switch:
Set the INCOMING switch on the right side panel to determine the maximum incoming message length, 30 seconds or 3 minutes. Setting the maximum time does not necessarily waste tape, because if the caller hangs up before using the set time, the TAD-252 automatically stops recording and conserves tape.
To set the TAD to record incoming messages:
- Be sure that the STOP/REMOTE TURN ON indicator is on. If not, press STOP/REMOTE TURN ON.
- Press ANSWER to set the TAD to answer calls and record the caller's message.
