Question: What is 3G and is my phone a 3G phone?

Answer:
3G is a term that the wireless industry uses to represent the next generation of wireless phone networks. These new networks provide higher data speeds. You will need to contact either your service provider, the telephone's manufacturer, or the store where you bought the telephone to determine whether or not you have a 3G handset.

Also, be sure to confirm with your service provider that you are signed up for a plan that allows for the use of higher data speeds. There may be service restrictions or high costs incurred if you try to use 3G data speeds on the incorrect service plan.

Question: During installation I am unable to install certain components. An error indicates that I need Administrator rights to do this.

Answer:
As a security feature in Windows 2000 and XP, you must have specific administrative rights over your PC in order to install new hardware and software. Without this ability, you will be unable to install SnapSync. You will need to contact your IT department and ask them to give you full access to your system or to assist you with this installation.

Question: During installation, when Windows is building a Driver Information Database, my PC "freezes" and I can't do anything.

Answer:
This occurs on Windows ME and 98 systems. While it appears that the system has frozen and stopped working, in reality, Windows is simply taking up all system resources to perform this task. Simply wait patiently, and the installation will continue.

Question: When SnapSync launches, no Dialing Profile, or Connection, is present.

Answer:
This means that the Modem and/or USB Driver setup is not complete, and thus SnapSync Setup was unable to create Dialing Profiles for you. The easiest approach would be to uninstall SnapSync, and re-install again, paying particular attention to the Modem installation section. Only with the proper USB drivers and Modems installed can SnapSync Setup create Dialing Profiles.

Question: After installing SnapSync, I still see an "Add New Hardware Wizard" window open.

Answer:
You clicked on "Modem Installation" before completing USB driver installation. SnapSync will be unable to create Dialing Profiles due to this change in sequence. Go ahead and follow the Add New Hardware Wizard to install the USB drivers. Then, uninstall and re-install SnapSync, so that Setup can create the proper Dialing Profiles.

Question: The remote server doesn't respond.

Answer:
This message indicates that SnapSync has successfully communicated with the telephone, but is somehow unable to dial the network. Make sure your phone has been activated (has a service plan), and is subscribed to a data plan that allows for dial-up connections.

This could also indicate that the network is temporarily unavailable. Simply try re-dialing in few minutes.

Question: SnapSync can't connect to the phone.

Answer:
 Check for 4 things:
  1. Proper cable connection:
The phone or the cable may not be plugged in properly.

  2. Proper cabling:
Are you using a Serial Cable to access a high speed (1xRTT) connection? 1xRTT connection can only be used in conjunction with an USB cable. Make sure the cable you use is correct.

  3. Proper COMPORT speed:
Are you using a COMPORT speed of 203.4k and using a Serial cable? Serial cable can only support up to 115.2K, and thus the system can not communicate with the phone. Please use the right cable for this connection.

  4. Proper COMPORT selection:
Make sure that your modem is installed in the same COMPORT as your USB phone.

Question: Why does SnapSync ask me for my "user name" and "password" again if I already entered in my Dialing Profile?

Answer:
Sometimes, due to network issues, the phone does not transmit the login information properly to the network servers. When this happens, the network requests that information again. Simply copy and paste those fields from SnapSync into the pop up window, and proceed with the login process.

Answer:
SnapSync reads connection entries from Windows Dial-up Networking. If you start SnapSync and then delete the connection entry in the Dial-up Networking, SnapSync will display this error message.

Question: How do I get this to work with my Motorola® LG 5350 telephone?

Answer:
You will need to use the 170-0789 data cable and be sure that your telephone has the proper software installed.

To make sure that your handset has the proper software upgrade (21), press Menu, 9 - Phone Info, and then scroll down to the S/W Version "LX5350" line. If you see S/W Version "LX535021", then the handset has the right software to work with SnapSync. If you see "LX53501D", then you need to take the handset into a Sprint store and ask the service representative to upgrade the software.
