4G: Forward to the Future

- Telephony: A term used to describe a broadband wireless standard that offers significantly higher capacity and/or data rates over 3G systems.
Even while developing 3G, the telecommunications industry is looking ahead to even more advanced technologies. Expected to be introduced in 2006, 4G (4th Generation) technology is expected to build on the advances of 3G, increasing communication speeds by up to another ten times and allowing world-wide roaming.
4G technology is expected to either incorporate or emulate the capabilities of the 802.11 wireless LAN standard. |
