| Question: I have a smoke detector installed, and there is a flashing light in the fire zone. |
Answer: Go through the following troubleshooting steps:
- If the EOL is not installed at end of smoke detectors, install it.
- If a 2.2k ohm resistor is installed also, remove it.
- When the EOL is installed, do the following:
a. Disconnect the EOL from end of smoke detector run.
b. Disconnect smoke detector wiring from panel.
c. Connect EOL directly to panel.
d. If still a problem, disconnect EOL, connect the resistor at the end of the smoke detectors. If there is still a problem, you have a bad panel.
e. If the problem is corrected, you have a bad EOL.
f. If panel and EOL test good at this point, problem is in the smoke detector(s).
- Test arm system again, and then keep adding smoke detectors in same fashion as 1st one until system will not arm. You have then located the bad smoke detector.
