Question: How do I connect the 490-0208 motion sensors to this alarm panel?

Answer:
The 490-0208 Motion Sensors need to be wired into the Instant zone Normally-Closed sensors, using terminals T3 and T4. Connect Terminal 2 to T3, and connect Terminal 3 to T4. Connect to power by connecting T5 to the positive (+) and T6 to the negative (-).

If you are also wiring this sensor into the Panic zone, the 490-0208 Motion Sensor uses T1 and T2 and is wired as a Normally-Open sensor. Connect Terminal 6 for T1, and connect Terminal 7 for T2. This is an optional connection.

The jumper at 2-3 would be removed, leaving just the jumper across 3-4.

For additional information, see the 490-0208 Wiring Diagram.

Question: I lost power at my house, and when it came back up...
my keypad was locked up, the alarm activated and/or the alarm turned itself off.

Answer:
If the alarm is connected to a backup battery, there should not be a problem when power is lost and returns. However, the loss and return of power can often be accompanied by a power surge. While this should not normally affect a system that is properly grounded, improper grounding can allow the power surge into the system and connected components, causing the problems described. Check the fuse in the system box, replace it as necessary, then reset your alarm system. If problems continue, you should use the Wired Alarm Troubleshooting Guide to determine where the problem is and replace or repair that component.

Question: How do you set the security code?

Answer:
Set the security code as follows:
  1. Disarm the alarm system. The keypad's red ARM indicator turns off. The LOOP indicator should be lit (no zones violated).
  2. Hold down the * key for 2 seconds. The keypad's LOOP indicator flashes slowly.
  3. Enter the current four-digit personal security code. (If this is the first time you have turned on the system, the security code is the system's default code.) The keypad's LOOP indicator turns off.
  4. Enter the new four-digit security code. The LOOP indicator turns on.
