Siren Detectors

A smoke alarm siren detector listens for the alarm siren from a separate smoke alarm. When the detector detects the siren, it sends a signal to the base, which sounds the system's alarm. This gives you extra protection if the smoke alarm is out of normal hearing range. However, the smoke alarm siren detector can also detect other loud sounds (audio systems, musical instruments, and so on). Be sure you mount the detector in a location that minimizes false alarms.

Notes:

  • The smoke alarm siren detector is not a smoke detecting device. It only detects the sound from a smoke alarm.
  • Some smoke alarm siren detectors work best with particular smoke alarms. Be sure to follow the recommendations for your siren detector.
