| Plunger switches are sensors which can be connected to a door/window transmitter. A plunger switch is designed to be installed inside a door frame on the side with the hinges. When the door is closed, the switch is in its normal state with the plunger pressed in, which can be either open or closed. If someone opens the door, they trip the switch, which activates the alarm. You cannot see a plunger switch when the door is closed. You can also use a plunger switch on a basement window or sliding glass door.
If you install a plunger switch on a door or window that is exposed to the weather, put silicone caulking under the switch's flange to protect the switch from water damage. |
