| To begin, you should set out all of the equipment that you will be installing in the area you have selected for your control panel. Initial setup and testing should be done prior to installing the remote sensors, as to avoid having to troubleshoot mounted sensors.
Choose a convenient location for the control that meets the following
guidelines:
- Near a standard AC outlet
- Cannot be seen from any entrance
- Central to doors, windows, and rooms you plan to protect
- Away from metal ductwork or other large metal objects
Following the instructions for your control panel, install the backup batteries, connect the panel to AC power and go through the initial setup procedure, if any. If you do not have the manual for your device, you will need to obtain it. If it is a RadioShack system, you can find any on-line information by going to the search field on our header (under the description "Type a keyword or product number" and entering the catalog number. If it is an active product, you will need to click on the Owner's Manual icon or the "Search for Support Documents" icon, which are found under the "Where to Buy" information.
You may need an extension cord or multiple outlet adapter in order to initially set up and test your equipment. Be sure you are not using an adapter or jack with an AC filter, as the filter will interfere with the wireless signal, which is sent across the AC line.
