PRO-96 (200-0526) Tutorial: How To Program The Priority Channel
This tutorial will show you how to program a specific frequency as the priority channel. This channel is in addition to the 500 programmable memory channels. When using the priority channel feature you can be sure you do not miss transmissions that are made on the frequency you select to program. While activated the priority channel is checked every two seconds and the scanner will stop on it if any activity is found.
The priority channel feature will not operate while the scanner is receiving a trunking voice channel or is in trunking delay time.
Program a Stored Channel Frequency as the Priority Channel
Step 1: Enter the Manual Mode
Press MAN to enter the manual mode. P will change to M.
Step 2: Enter the Channel Number
Enter the number of the channel containing the frequency that you want to program as the priority channel. Press MAN.
Step 3: Set the Frequency as the Priority Channel
Press FUNC and then press PRI. On the bottom line of the display Pri Channel will flash. This tells you that the channel has been stored into the memory of the priority channel.
Program the Priority Channel Directly
Step 1: Enter the Program Mode
Press PGM then PRI to enter the program mode.
Step 2: Enter and Store the Frequency
Using the number keys, enter the frequency that you want to program as the priority channel. Press ENTER.
Program the Weather Channel as the Priority Channel
Step 1: Enter the Weather Mode
Press WX.
Step 2: Select the Weather Channel
Keep pressing WX until the weather channel that you want to program as the priority channel is displayed.
Step 3: Store the Channel
Press FUNC then press PRI. On the bottom line Pri Channel will flash twice.
Activate the Priority Channel
The priority channel can be activated while you are scanning or listening to a channel.
Press PRI. PRIon will display or if you have set a weather channel as the priority channel you will see PRIwx. P will display in the top left while you are scanning or listening to a channel while in manual mode.
Pri Channel or Weather ALERT will display if the there is activity on the priority channel. If the priority channel is a weather channel then you will also hear an alert tone. To listen to the weather alert message press WX.
