PRO-96 (200-0526) Tutorial: How to Turn The Scanner On/Off and How to Adjust Squelch

This tutorial will show you how to turn the scanner on and off and how to adjust the volume and squelch control in order to obtain better reception.
For additional information on this product, see the links below:

Step 1: Adjust the Squelch Knob Before Turning on the Scanner

Before turning on your scanner, the SQUELCH knob should be turned counterclockwise, until the indicator points to MIN.

Step 2: Turn On the Scanner

Turn the VOLUME Knob clockwise to turn on the scanner. DSP loading message and Welcome to Digital Trunking will display. Keep turning the VOLUME knob clockwise until a hissing noise is heard.

Step 3: Adjust the Squelch Knob After Turning On the Scanner

Turn the SQUELCH knob clockwise just until the hissing noise can no longer be heard.

Step 4: Adjust the Squelch to Hear A Weak or Distant Station

In order to listen to a weak or distant station, turn the SQUELCH knob counterclockwise.

Step 5: Adjust the Squelch if the Reception is Poor

If the reception is poor, turn the SQUELCH knob clockwise. This will cut out weak transmissions that you do not want to hear.

Note: If the SQUELCH knob is not adjusted so that the hissing noise cannot be heard, the scanner will not scan properly if at all.

Step 6: Turn the Scanner Off

Turn the VOLUME knob counterclockwise until the indicator points to OFF.
