PRO-89 (200-0514) Tutorial: How to Reset and Initialize the Scanner

How to Reset the Scanner

Step 1: Turn the Scanner Off and On
 
Top of Scanner / Volume, Squelch, Headphones, Antenna
 
Turn the scanner off by rotating VOLUME all the way to OFF, then turn it on again.

Note: The image shows the top of the scanner with the antenna removed.

 
Step 2: Press the Reset Button
 
PRO-89 Reset Hole
 
Insert a pointed object such as a straightened paper clip into the Reset opening on the side of the scanner, then gently press the Reset button inside the opening.

Note: If the scanner still does not work properly, you should try to Initialize the Scanner.

 

How to Initialize the Scanner

Important: This procedure clears all information you stored in the scanner's memory. Initialize the scanner only when you are sure the scanner is not working properly or when you want to quickly erase all information.
Step 1: Turn the Scanner Off and On
 
Top of Scanner / Volume, Squelch, Headphones, Antenna
 
Turn the scanner off by rotating VOLUME all the way to OFF, then turn it on again.
 
Step 2: Selecting Initialize Mode
 
Pro89 Any Channel and Frequency in MAN mode PRO-89 Keypad - MON/CL
 
Hold down MON/CL. The display will show a channel in manual mode.
 
Step 3: Press the Reset Button
 
PRO-89 Reset Hole PRO-89 Keypad - MON/CL
 
While holding down MON/CL, insert a pointed object (such as a straightened paper clip) into the reset opening on the side of the scanner, then gently press the reset button inside the opening. The display should turn off.
 
Step 4: Clearing All Memory
 
Pro89 Channel 1, Empty, in MAN mode PRO-89 Keypad - MON/CL
 
When the display turns on again, release MON/CL. The display should show the first channel empty, as above.

Note: You must release the reset button before releasing MON/CL; otherwise the memory might not clear.
