PRO-2018 (200-0424) Tutorial: How to Turn Scanner On and Off and how to Adjust Volume and Squelch

This tutorial will show you how to turn on the scanner and how to adjust the volume and squelch controls in order to obtain better reception.

Step 1: Adjust Squelch Knob Before Turning on Scanner



Before turning on your scanner, the SQUELCH knob should be turned counterclockwise until the groove on the knob is pointing to MIN.

Step 2: Turn on the Scanner



Turn on the scanner by sliding the POWER switch to ON.

Step 3: Adjust the Volume Knob



Turn the VOLUME knob clockwise until a hissing noise is heard.

Step 4: Adjust the Squelch Knob



Turn the SQUELCH knob clockwise until the hissing noise can no longer be heard.

Step 5: Adjust Squelch Knob to Hear Weak or Distant Stations



To be able to listen to a station that is weak or distant, turn the SQUELCH knob counterclockwise

Step 6: Adjust Squelch Knob to Hear if Reception is Poor



Turn the SQUELCH knob counterclockwise when the reception is poor, as this will cut out weak transmissions that you do not want to hear. Remember: If the SQUELCH knob is not adjusted so that hissing sounds cannot be heard then the scanner will not scan properly.

Step 7: Turn Scanner Off



In order to turn the scanner off, slide the POWER switch to OFF.
