How do I compare digital video equipment to select the one which is best for me? What features are available?
There are a number of features to be considered when comparing digital photography equipment. Those features which are most commonly used to determine the best camera or camcorder in general are listed below under Primary Features. While these are far from the only features which can be considered, these twelve cover the major considerations of usability and image quality. Platform, connection type, memory and batteries must be considered, as they directly affect the connection and after-sale cost of the equipment. The remaining eight features greatly affect the image quality and can be used to quickly compare two devices.
Fourteen additional features are listed in the second table. Many of these also affect connection and image quality. Others are specific features which may answer a particular need. Several apply only to either digital cameras or to digital camcorders. These features are marked as either cam (cameras only) or cmc (camcorders only).
