| Question: What's the difference between Monster® cables and other premium cables? |
|
Answer: Monster® audio and video cables make stereos, home theater and other sound sysetms sound their very best. These cables provide better signal transfer by using higher-quality components and manufacturing techniques. Several of these components are listed below, along with their benefits.
- Unique Turbine Connectors
- Strength
- Durability
- Signal Quality (by maximizing contact pressure, contact points and contact mass)
- 24 karat Gold Contacts
- Signal Quality (through high conductivity that minimizes loss)
- Corrosion Resistance
- Nonslip Rubber Grip
- Signal Quality (through solid connections)
- Less Aggravation and Effort (easier to connect)
- Unique Color-Coded Bands
- Easy Connection Identification (multiple colors instead of several red, white and yellow cables)
- Directional Indicators
- Signal Quality (through maximized shielding versus noise)
- Duraflex™ Jacket and Insulation
- Signal Quality (by maximizing signal strength)
- Durability
- Precise 75-ohm Impedance
- Signal Quality (by minimizing signal loss)
- High-grade, Oxygen-free Copper
- Signal Quality (through high conductivity that minimizes loss)
- Corrosion Resistance

| Question: What does the THX on some Monster cables signify? |
|
Answer: The "THX" mark indicates that the cable meets the THX specifications for high-quality audio/video cable for home theater. This standard includes electrical, physical and ergonomic specifications, all designed to ensure the highest quality of construction and sound reproduction.
THX certified Monster cables must meet the following criteria:
- Audio cable electrical specifications for insertion loss and bandwidth to minimize frequency response deviations and signal losses, given a usage length
- Video cable electrical specifications for insertion loss and bandwidth to preserve color purity and picture detail and stability
- Mechanical specifications for connection integrity insuring product longevity and reliability
- A widely recognized color coding standard for easy channel recognition and simplified polarization
- Jacket printing of vital information to indicate polarity, grounding location and usage length limits

| Question: What connector or connectors are used with this cable? |
Answer: Monster cables use turbine connectors with 24 karat gold contacts for corrosion resistance. These connectors ensure excellent signal transfer and minimized signal loss. The connectors also feature nonslip rubber grips to make connections easier and more secure, and unique color-coded bands to allow you to identify connections without chasing cables around behind the equipment.
RadioShack does not sell stand-alone Monster connectors at this time.
