Question: What is this cable used for?

Answer:
Component video cables are used for connecting component video inputs and outputs. Component video is a video system that retains the original color elements separately rather than combining them into a single signal (as with composite video). This creates a signal with a higher color bandwidth than that of composite video. The color elements are Y, Cb, and Cr for standard component video, and Y, Pb, and Pr for high-definition component video.
