Troubleshooting General Audio Problems
The power does not come on.
The unit does not respond when any button is pressed.
The display shows a message that is not documented in the manual, and it won't go away.
M-ERROR
is on the display.
CD ERROR
or
DISC ERROR
is on the display.

The sound from the CD player skips.
The sound from the tape player is noisy or distorted.
READ
is on the CD player display, but the CD isn't playing.
Troubleshooting Speaker or Sound Level Problems
The left and right speaker sounds are reversed.
There is a low hum or noise no matter what is being listened to.
There is only sound from one channel (left or right).
The sound cuts out while the music is playing.
Power lights are on, but there is no sound at all.
There is a low bass response.
There is no sound from the surround or center speakers.
The surround sound is not playing properly.
The rear speakers only provide sound highlights.
Troubleshooting AM/FM Reception Problems
There is a hissing noise when the tuner is set to stereo, but it goes away when the tuner is set to mono.
There is extreme distortion in the sound of stereo broadcasts.
There is noise in both stereo and mono modes.
The broadcast keeps fading in and out or the sound is distorted on radio broadcasts only.
The sound is distorted on radio broadcasts only.
The tuner won't stop on a station.
Troubleshooting Audio Recording Problems
The tape deck doesn't record anything.
The tape deck records the signal, but there's a lot of static not on the original.
Recorded tapes won't play in other players, but play back fine in the recorder/player I used to record them.
My recorder plays the tape back too fast; the tape plays fast on other tape players also.
When I record using my microphone I hear "pops" and 'hissing" when listening to the playback.
Troubleshooting Turntable Problems
There is a hum when the turntable is played.
The sound level from the turntable is very low.

The remote does not work.
The remote works sometimes, but distance doesn't seem to make a difference.
The remote works if I move closer, but it used to work farther away.
Troubleshooting Car Audio Problems
I get noise on my car audio system that disappears when I turn the car off.
The sound distorts at high volume when I play the radio in my car audio system.
My car radio only get one station.
My car radio keep running hot and blowing fuses.
I lose my station memories in my car radio when I turn off the vehicle.
The amplifier stays on for a few minutes, then shuts off, then comes back on, then shuts off again.
When using two amplifiers, I lose the right channel on one amp.
